Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO’s multiplayer does not confirm one definitive ranking of every character. Character strength depends on the mode, game version and evidence being compared. Bandai Namco has adjusted DP Battles to account more clearly for differences in character DP values, while Single Battle uses standardized health and no longer applies DP-based damage scaling. Those changes affect what “strongest” means in each format; they do not amount to a complete character-by-character tier list.
Why multiplayer does not reveal one universal tier list
Asking “Which Sparking! ZERO characters are strongest online?” sounds like a request for one ranking, but multiplayer includes different contexts. Bandai Namco describes both online and split-screen Vs. battles, and the rules and balance adjustments matter when comparing fighters. The sources available do not provide an authoritative, current full-roster win-rate table or comprehensive character-strength statistic. So they cannot support a reliable ranking of every fighter by online performance. They do show how the developers account for character differences in two ranked formats—and why any tier assessment needs to name its mode and version.
How DP Battle accounts for character strength
In its May 25, 2026 ranked-matches notice, Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. said: “In DP Battles, adjustments have been made so that differences in DP values more clearly reflect character strength, revising the scaling based on DP differences.” Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc., DRAGON BALL Sparking! DP values are part of the format’s way of accounting for differences between characters. The notice confirms that the relationship between those values and strength was adjusted; it does not publish an ordered list of fighters or say that a particular DP value guarantees a particular match outcome. A DP Battle comparison should therefore be read as a comparison within that format and its current rules—not as a universal ranking.
How Single Battle differs
Bandai Namco’s same notice describes a different approach for Single Battle: DP-based damage scaling was removed and character health was standardized. The company said the changes followed player feedback and actual gameplay data and were intended to enable a wider variety of characters.

That means DP Battle and Single Battle cannot be collapsed into a single strength measurement. The official adjustment to DP scaling belongs to DP Battles; the health and damage changes described for Single Battle alter the conditions under which fighters are compared. A claim that a character is “best online” needs to specify which of these formats it means.
What ranked records and community results can establish
Official character-rank recognition
An earlier official patch note says season-end character-rank titles are awarded to the top 100. This establishes that the game recognizes ranked performance by character, but it does not provide win rates or a complete ranking for the roster. Bandai Namco’s patch notes

Verified competitive sets
Sparking! Ranked describes its data as verified competitive sets tracked using Elo. It excludes in-game ranked and casual matches, so its results represent a narrower competitive pool rather than the full population of online players. These sources answer different questions: official character-rank recognition is not a public full-roster win-rate table, and a verified community set tracker is not the in-game ladder. Neither should be presented as a definitive measure of every character’s strength across multiplayer.

Why version matters
Bandai Namco’s official patch notes include general combat adjustments as well as changes to specific characters. A tier assessment can therefore become outdated when the game changes. Any claim about who is strongest should identify the patch or date it covers, along with the mode and the results being used. The available official pages confirm that balance changes occur, but do not establish which patch is the latest today.
What the 181-character launch figure means
Bandai Namco announced 181 playable characters at launch in September 2024. That is a historical launch figure, not a current roster count, and it does not imply that a complete online strength ranking exists. Bandai Namco’s launch roster announcement

How to judge a character-strength claim
- Check the mode: DP Battle and Single Battle use different approaches to character differences.
- Check the date or version: official notes document combat and character adjustments over time.
- Check the data source: distinguish in-game ranked play from verified community competitive sets, and do not treat either as covering the other.
- Check the scope: a top-100 character-rank title or a narrow competitive tracker is not a full-roster win-rate table.
Without a dated, mode-specific character-by-character dataset, it is not possible to say from these sources which fighter is strongest or rank every character reliably. The supported conclusion is narrower: multiplayer strength in Sparking! ZERO is format- and version-dependent, and the available ranked and community evidence does not confirm one objective ranking for the entire roster.
