EA’s current U.S. membership page lists those higher prices. The available sources confirm the 2024 increase, but do not establish that it was the service’s first-ever price rise.
How much did EA Play prices increase?
GameSpot and Video Games Chronicle reported these U.S. prices in April 2024:
| Membership | Previous U.S. price | New U.S. price reported in 2024 | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|
| EA Play | $4.99 per month; $29.99 per year | $5.99 per month; $39.99 per year | $1 per month; $10 per year |
| EA Play Pro | $14.99 per month; $99.99 per year | $16.99 per month; $119.99 per year | $2 per month; $20 per year |
These are U.S. prices, not global rates. EA’s membership page currently lists EA Play at $5.99 monthly or $39.99 yearly and Pro at $16.99 monthly or $119.99 yearly in the U.S. Prices can vary by region, so check the storefront where you would subscribe.
When did the increase take effect?
Contemporaneous reports said the new prices took effect May 10, 2024. They also reported that new subscribers would pay the new rates from that date, while existing members would move to the higher rate at their next renewal on or after May 10. That renewal detail was reported at the time; the original subscriber notice is not available in the sources cited here. See GameSpot’s April 10, 2024 report and VGC’s April 11, 2024 report.

Was this EA Play’s first price increase?
The 2024 reporting documents a price change, but it does not provide a complete historical price record. The sources available here therefore do not verify the “first time” claim. It is more precise to say that EA Play prices increased in 2024 than to call the change the service’s first-ever increase.
What does EA Play include at the current U.S. price?
EA describes standard EA Play as including its Play List, member rewards, a 10% discount on eligible EA digital purchases such as downloads, points packs, and DLC, and trials of select new-release games for up to 10 hours. Conditions, limitations, and exclusions apply; the standard membership should not be read as including every new EA release. EA describes Pro separately, including access to select new releases before launch and what its membership page calls its “best editions.” Details depend on the game and membership terms. See EA’s membership page and EA Play FAQ.

EA says EA Play is included at no additional cost with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. If you already subscribe to one of those plans, check your current plan terms and regional entitlement before buying EA Play separately. EA’s FAQ also says a membership selection applies to one platform; it lists Xbox, PlayStation, and PC through the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Payment methods vary by region, so compare the price and platform terms for the store you use.
