What Elden Ring’s official terms say about EAC
Elden Ring’s official online Terms of Service say the Company uses EAC to prevent specified prohibited acts. The terms describe identifying and banning players who cheat as part of that purpose, stating: “This includes but is not limited to identifying and banning Players who are cheating in the Software or the Services, analyzing cheating behavior and cheating codes, as well as sharing data about cheats with affiliates of EAC.” The passage describes policy; it does not report detection rates or show how consistently enforcement works in practice.
The same terms say players who complain about another player’s conduct must deal with and resolve the issue at their own expense and responsibility, and state that the Company is not liable or obligated in that regard. This is contractual wording, not a complete explanation of a player’s options in any particular situation.

What Square Enix support says PC players should expect
Square Enix’s EAC support guidance says that intentionally running the PC game without EAC prevents matchmaking with legitimate players. It also describes a discreet but visible HUD watermark on flagged accounts. These are the support page’s stated outcomes; the page does not provide a full account of detection methods, ban rates, or case-by-case appeals.
What remains unknown about cheating in PvP
The available sources do not establish a representative estimate of how often Elden Ring PvP players encounter cheating, or an EAC detection rate for the game. Without those measures, forum complaints cannot establish prevalence, and the existence of an anti-cheat policy cannot establish its real-world effectiveness. The evidence supports both that some players complain and that official guidance describes an anti-cheat system—not a broader verdict about how often it succeeds or fails.

Does the latest listed update address cheating?
The official site lists an update notice dated August 21, 2025. Its surfaced notice does not specify a PvP cheating fix, so it should not be treated as evidence of an anti-cheat improvement. See the official update notices.
