Yes—Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree received a balance update that made its Scadutree Blessing benefits stronger earlier in their progression. Calibration update 1.12.2 was released by June 24, 2024; it was not a forthcoming patch or a selectable easy mode.
What the June 2024 update changed
Bandai Namco described calibration update 1.12.2 as an adjustment to the Expansion’s balance. It changed the Scadutree Blessing’s attack and damage-negation curve: improvements are greater across the first half of maximum Blessing enhancements, become more gradual in the second half, and rise slightly again at the final level. This was a change to DLC-area progression, not a new difficulty setting. The update did not promise that every boss or build would become easy; it made a specific character-strengthening system more rewarding earlier in its upgrade curve.
How Scadutree Blessing helps in the DLC
Scadutree Fragments found while exploring can be used at a Site of Grace to strengthen the Scadutree Blessing. That Blessing increases the player character’s attack and damage negation in the Realm of Shadow. The separate Revered Spirit Ash Blessing improves the effectiveness of summoned spirits and Torrent in the DLC area. The official guidance on strengthening the player explains both systems.

- Rest at a Site of Grace and apply the Scadutree Blessing.
- Look for Revered Spirit Ashes and apply the corresponding Blessing if you want to strengthen spirits or Torrent.
These Blessings are limited to the DLC area. They can improve your odds, but they do not remove the need to learn enemy patterns or guarantee a particular outcome.

The June 2024 Blessing adjustment is only one part of the expansion’s balance history. Later updates affected different parts of the game:

Version 1.17 is the latest official note identified here, so the 2024 adjustment should not be described as the newest change.
What to check before buying the expansion
Shadow of the Erdtree launched on June 21, 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. The official release announcement also describes editions that bundle the base game and expansion. Check the platform and edition carefully: the DLC requires the base game unless you choose a bundle that includes it. See the official release announcement.
