If Echoes of Elysium is lagging in multiplayer on PC, first make sure every player is on the same game branch and version. Then identify whether the problem is low or choppy frame rate on one PC, or delayed actions and rubber-banding that point toward a connection issue. There is no confirmed one-size-fits-all fix: the right next step depends on which symptom you see.
1. Make sure everyone is on the same branch and version
Start with the whole party, not just the player reporting lag. Loric Games’ September 23, 2026 controller-support beta announcement says multiplayer between its experimental beta branch and the live public version is not supported. The developer instructs players to use the same version and branch.
Have each player check which branch they are running and update the game through Steam. If one person is on the experimental branch and another is on the live branch, bring everyone onto the same branch before testing again. A branch mismatch is a compatibility issue, not evidence that one player’s internet or PC is too slow.
2. Work out what “lag” looks like
The word “lag” can describe different problems. Note exactly what happens, when it begins, and whether it affects one player or the entire party.

Check Steam’s current listing before relying on these specifications because requirements can change. Meeting the recommended requirements does not rule out a game-side issue, and falling below them does not by itself establish the cause of a specific hitch.
Test whether the problem is local to multiplayer
- Update the game and your graphics drivers, then test again.
- Check whether the same stutter occurs in solo play. If it does, concentrate on local performance rather than party connectivity.
- Note whether the issue starts after playing for a while, during a specific activity, or immediately on joining a session.
Loric’s official news and patch notes document performance and stability work. The v0.20.1 notes dated August 27, 2026 describe fixes targeting long-running problems and performance inhibitors; earlier v0.19.0 notes also focused on performance and crash fixes, including world-streaming hitch work and a VSync issue that could force a 30 FPS cap. Those fixes show that game-side performance problems have been addressed, but they do not establish that an individual player’s current lag has the same cause. Check for current updates before relying on older troubleshooting advice.

4. If actions are delayed or players rubber-band
Try these reversible connection checks one at a time so you can tell whether a change makes a difference. SEGA’s network troubleshooting guidance, updated March 10, 2026, is general online-game advice, not a confirmed Echoes of Elysium-specific fix.
- Update the game and client. Make sure the game is current for everyone in the party and that branch compatibility is not the issue.
- Restart the modem and router. Wait for the connection to return, then test the same multiplayer activity again.
- Compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet, if available. If you are on Wi-Fi, a temporary wired test can help determine whether the wireless connection is contributing. Treat this as a diagnostic comparison, not a requirement to buy equipment.
- Review VPN or proxy use. If one is active, test without it if that is safe and appropriate for your setup.
- Check firewall settings. Confirm that the game is not being blocked; avoid disabling your firewall as a routine fix.
Record whether the test changes the symptom and whether it affects the host, guests, or the whole party. That makes the result more useful than changing several settings at once.
