Electronic Arts said its Javelin anti-cheat system blocked 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls during the first two days of the Battlefield 6 open beta in August 2025. That is a count of blocked attempts—not a count of unique cheaters or players banned. EA separately reported 104,000 player reports of potential cheaters, which are allegations rather than confirmed violations.
What EA reported during the beta
TechCrunch reported the figures on August 11, 2025, citing a statement on EA’s official forums from “AC,” a member of the company’s anti-cheat team. EA said Javelin stopped 330,000 attempts to cheat or interfere with anti-cheat controls in the open beta’s first two days. Over the same period, players submitted 104,000 reports of “instances of potential cheaters.” TechCrunch’s report said EA did not have an updated player-ban count at the time.
What the 330,000 figure means
The number describes attempts that EA says Javelin blocked. It does not establish how many individuals were involved, how many attempts came from the same person, how many cases were confirmed as cheating, or how many players were banned. It is best read as an early measure of anti-cheat activity, not a tally of people caught.
What the 104,000 reports mean
Player reports flag suspected behavior for review; they do not, by themselves, prove a rule violation. The report count is separate from the blocked-attempt count, and the available statement does not show how many reports led to investigation or enforcement.

How EA describes Battlefield 6’s anti-cheat layers
Javelin on PC
EA says Javelin is required to play Battlefield 6 on PC. The company describes it as a customizable anti-cheat system used for Battlefield and other EA first-person shooters. That is EA’s description of its system, not an independent technical audit of its effectiveness. EA’s Secure Boot Information page, published August 4, 2025, says the game prompts PC users who try to access it with Secure Boot disabled.
Secure Boot as one platform safeguard
EA says requiring Secure Boot gives it capabilities to counter some cheats that load during Windows startup and supports other security features, including TPM. Its explainer identifies threats such as kernel-level cheats and rootkits, memory manipulation and injection, spoofing and hardware-ID manipulation, virtual machines and emulation, and tampering with anti-cheat software. The page covers Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Secure Boot is not a guarantee that cheating will stop. In the beta-period forum post quoted by TechCrunch, AC said: “On Secure Boot, I want to be clear that Secure Boot is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet.” AC also said: “Anti-Cheat isn’t one and done, it’s an ever evolving battlefield, and what has worked for us previously or in different games doesn’t always work in all of them.”
What EA says can lead to a penalty
EA’s Battlefield 6 rules page lists aimbots, wallhacks, software that disconnects players from EA servers, exploit or bug abuse, stat padding, win-trading, and deliberately teaming with cheaters to boost scores or complete challenges as prohibited conduct. EA says it requires clear evidence of cheating before banning a player.

A later EA Season 4 anti-cheat update adds context about input devices and accessibility. EA says its policy considers whether software bypasses anti-cheat checks by emulating input devices, automates input, provides extra sound-location information, or changes crosshair behavior. It says the Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation Access Controller, and Steam Input are not prohibited. This later policy detail should not be confused with the basis for the August 2025 beta tally.
Later reporting metrics are not the beta tally
In a later Season 4 update, EA described Match Infection Rate as a predictive measure of matches negatively affected by at least one cheater. EA said the metric can include suspected players reported by others even when it does not yet have enough evidence to enforce against them, and emphasized that reports alone are not evidence of wrongdoing. That later metric is distinct from the 330,000 attempts Javelin reportedly blocked in the beta’s first two days; EA did not identify Match Infection Rate as the source of that beta number.

Release context
EA announced on October 16, 2025, that Battlefield 6 had sold more than 7 million copies in its first three days, with more than 172 million matches played online and more than 15 million streaming hours during its three-day launch weekend. These are figures EA reported in its release announcement, not independently audited statistics. EA said the game was available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC; those are release details, not beta-period platform information.
