When did Dragon Age: The Veilguard come out?
BioWare announced a Fall 2024 window before EA set the global release date for Thursday, October 31, 2024. The original “launches this fall” wording was accurate at announcement time, but it is no longer an upcoming release. EA’s release-date announcement gave the date, and EA’s launch-day announcement confirmed availability.
What platforms is The Veilguard on?
EA announced and launched the game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Its named PC storefronts were Steam, the EA app, and Epic Games Store; EA also identified Steam Deck verification. Availability is confirmed, but current prices, retailer stock, and edition listings can change.
What kind of game is it?
The Veilguard is a single-player fantasy role-playing game set in Thedas. You play as Rook, a customizable protagonist drawn into a crisis after Solas’s ritual goes awry. Rook must bring companions together to stop ancient elven gods. The journey spans locations including Rivain, Weisshaupt, Arlathan, Minrathous, and the Deep Roads.

The seven companions are Bellara, Davrin, Emmrich, Harding, Lucanis, Neve, and Taash. Their storylines, relationships, and quests are woven into a narrative shaped by player choices. Faction selection affects narrative, dialogue, and gameplay interactions. The Lighthouse serves as a hub, while the Crossroads connects to separate explorable regions. How do combat and class choices work?
Rook’s class determines a broad combat approach, and the game lets players change abilities outside combat. EA’s materials establish three choices, but do not rank them by overall effectiveness; which feels best depends on your preferred range, pace, and use of tactical commands.

On quests, Rook takes two companions. You can combine abilities, use an ability wheel to pause the action and issue commands, and trigger combos. If you want to try a different build, the launch guide says you can change abilities outside combat and respec either individual skill nodes or an entire skill tree. These options make experimentation possible without locking every skill decision in permanently. EA’s launch guide covers combat, settings, and respec options.
What should new players know before starting?
- Check the adjustable settings and accessibility options to tailor the experience.
- Explore after the prologue rather than rushing through the main path; EA’s launch guide encourages exploration.
- Make time for companion and faction quests: EA says they affect later stages of the story.
What were the launch-era editions and prices?
EA’s August 2024 release announcement listed the following suggested U.S. retail prices. These are historical launch prices, not confirmed current offers; EA noted that offers could vary or change.

The Deluxe Edition’s announced cosmetic contents were three Rook armor sets, six Rook weapons, seven companion armor sets, and seven companion weapons. Check a current platform store or retailer for today’s price, format, and stock rather than relying on those 2024 figures.
What was Rook’s Coffer?
EA announced Rook’s Coffer as a $150 USD launch-era merchandise item, separate from the game. The physical keepsakes included a light-up Lyrium Dagger and a deck of cards featuring in-game art. That announcement does not establish present availability or price, so check current listings if you are looking for it.

When did the soundtrack release?
EA announced that the official soundtrack, co-composed by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, would release through Lakeshore Records on November 1, 2024. The announcement establishes that date and the composers, but not a physical album format or current availability. Details appeared in EA’s October launch announcement.
