There is no single best Sacred Seal for every Elden Ring character. The right choice depends on your attributes, the incantation schools you cast, and whether you deal damage or rely on healing and weapon buffs. For high-Faith builds, the Erdtree Seal is a strong general-purpose option; for Strength/Faith or Intelligence/Faith characters, a seal that scales with both of your main attributes may serve you better. School-specific bonuses can also change the damage-spell verdict.
How Sacred Seals affect incantations
Sacred Seals are the catalysts used to cast incantations. The seal’s Incantation Scaling, which reflects its attributes and upgrade level, affects the result of a cast. That means the best seal is the one whose scaling works with your character—not necessarily the one with the highest headline number.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc.’s July 19, 2023 advanced-stats guide illustrates the point with a Strength/Faith seal: “In the example below, our Incantation Seal scales with Strength and Faith, so in this case our spells will get stronger with more points into those two scaling stats, even though STR isn’t typically related to spell damage.” In other words, a hybrid seal can be a sensible choice when your character has invested in both of its scaling attributes.
The practical ranking: choose by build and spell purpose
These are build-based recommendations, not a universal ordering of all 12 seals. The available evidence supports the general scaling rules and a high-Faith Erdtree Seal comparison, but not a complete, patch-verified numerical ranking for every seal.

High Faith, mostly damage incantations: Erdtree Seal
The Erdtree Seal is a strong general-purpose pick for a character focused on Faith. The cited item reference reports 353 Incantation Scaling at +10 and 80 Faith, and describes it as the strongest Faith-only seal above 68 Faith. Treat those figures as a specific item comparison, not a promise that it is best for every cast: another Faith-only seal can outperform it on an incantation school that seal boosts.
Strength/Faith: consider a seal that scales with both
A Strength/Faith character should compare a hybrid-scaling seal with a Faith-focused option using the character’s actual attributes and upgrade levels. A higher total from hybrid scaling can make sense for damage incantations, but it does not automatically make that seal better for healing or weapon buffs.

Intelligence/Faith: Golden Order Seal is a candidate
The Golden Order Seal scales with Intelligence and Faith, making it a candidate for an Int/Faith build. Its hybrid scaling is most relevant when those are the attributes the character has developed; for healing and weapon-buff casts, the Faith-only scaling rule still applies.
Incantations from a boosted school: weigh the school bonus
If you mainly cast incantations from one school, a seal that boosts that school may be preferable for those damage spells, even when another seal has higher general scaling. Do not assume that holding a second seal adds its scaling to a spell cast with your primary seal. School bonuses and cast scaling are separate considerations; verify the specific seal’s effect before relying on it.

Healing and weapon buffs: prioritize Faith-derived scaling
For healing and weapon buffs, only the Faith-derived portion of seal scaling counts, according to the scaling reference. A hybrid seal’s headline total can therefore overstate its usefulness for these casts. Healing-over-time effects are also listed as not benefiting from Incantation Scaling, so a higher seal scaling figure should not be assumed to improve them.

The roster spans Faith-focused and hybrid-scaling options, but the available item-level evidence does not establish comparable scaling figures, school bonuses, requirements, upgrade details, or acquisition routes for every seal. Exact DLC seal bonuses and a full current ranking are likewise not established here. Check current in-game item information before committing upgrade materials based on an assumed universal tier list.
A quick way to decide
- Check your attributes. Identify the stats your build has actually invested in. A seal that scales with those stats is a better starting point than one chosen by name or reputation.
- Identify the casts that matter. Separate damage incantations from healing and weapon buffs; hybrid scaling does not contribute to all of those uses in the same way.
- Account for spell school. For damage spells, check whether a seal’s school-specific bonus applies to the incantations you use.
- Compare equivalent upgrade levels. Incantation Scaling changes with seal upgrades, so comparisons between differently upgraded seals can mislead.
- Factor in DLC access. The roster includes Shadow of the Erdtree seals; whether one is an option depends on owning and reaching that expansion’s content.
What “highest scaling” really means
If you mean the highest-supported figure in the available comparison, the Erdtree Seal’s reported 353 Incantation Scaling at +10 and 80 Faith is the relevant high-Faith data point. It is described as the strongest Faith-only seal above 68 Faith. That does not establish the highest possible scaling across every hybrid build, nor does it settle which seal is strongest for a specific school, healing, or weapon buffs. Compare seals against your own attributes and intended casts rather than treating one number as a universal winner.
