There are four standard Deathbird encounters in Elden Ring, one each in Limgrave’s Stormhill, the Weeping Peninsula, Liurnia of the Lakes, and the Capital Outskirts. All appear at night, and each drops a different item. The guide below covers those four encounters; Death Rite Birds are a separate boss type.

Where to find each Deathbird
Stormhill, Limgrave: Blue-Feathered Branchsword
Travel east of Warmaster’s Shack and search around the ruins. The Deathbird appears at night. Eldenpedia reports 2,800 runes and 3,442 HP for this encounter. Eldenpedia’s Deathbird entry
Weeping Peninsula: Sacrificial Axe
Search northwest of Castle Morne, near the cliff and ruins. This encounter also appears at night. Eldenpedia lists 3,900 runes and 3,769 HP. Tarnished Golden Sunflowers grow near the spawn area; they can be used to craft Holy Water Pots with the recipe from Missionary’s Cookbook 1. Eldenpedia’s Deathbird entry

Liurnia of the Lakes: Red-Feathered Branchsword
From Scenic Isle Site of Grace, head northeast and check the ruins nearby after nightfall. The community wiki reports 6,600 runes and 5,588 HP. Eldenpedia’s Deathbird entry
Capital Outskirts: Twinbird Kite Shield
Look for the Deathbird on the cliff overlooking a Minor Erdtree, close to the Hermit Merchant’s Shack. It appears at night. Eldenpedia reports 29,000 runes and 8,575 HP. Eldenpedia’s Deathbird entry

What to do if a Deathbird is missing
- Rest at a Site of Grace and choose Pass time.
- Set the time to night, then return to the listed landmark and search the nearby ruins or cliff.
- If the encounter still does not appear, confirm that you are at the correct region’s location rather than looking for a Death Rite Bird; the two names refer to different boss encounters.
Deathbirds and Death Rite Birds are different bosses
This list is limited to the four standard Deathbirds and their four rewards. Death Rite Birds are a separate, more powerful recurring boss category, with encounters reported in Liurnia of the Lakes, Caelid, Mountaintops of the Giants, Consecrated Snowfield, and Charo’s Hidden Grave. Their drops include the Death Ritual Spear, Death’s Poker, Explosive Ghostflame, and Ash of War: Ghostflame Call; those rewards are not part of the standard Deathbird list. The Weeping Peninsula Deathbird’s Sacrificial Axe restores 4 FP when a nearby creature dies while the axe is held in an active hand. Holding two Sacrificial Axes does not make that effect stack. Eldenpedia’s Sacrificial Axe entry
