Elden Ring update 1.12.2 was a Shadow of the Erdtree calibration update that adjusted how Scadutree Blessing upgrades improve attack power and damage negation. It did not change the number of blessing levels, and the patch notes do not establish a blanket reduction in the expansion’s difficulty. Players were told to log in to the multiplayer server and confirm the calibration version on the title screen.
What did Elden Ring update 1.12.2 change?
Bandai Namco described update 1.12.2 as a calibration update intended to adjust Shadow of the Erdtree’s balance. Its specified change was to the attack and damage-negation curves for Scadutree Blessing:
- Blessing upgrades increased those values more in the first half of the upgrade progression.
- Increases became more gradual in the second half.
- The final blessing level received a slight increase.
The official 1.12.2 patch notes provide no percentages or numerical values for the curve adjustment. They do not say that the patch changed the number of blessing levels, enemy health, or the entire game’s difficulty. It is more accurate to describe the change as a shift in how Scadutree Blessing scales than to say the whole expansion was made easier.

- If that version is not shown, select LOGIN and apply the latest regulations before playing.
PC ray-tracing warning in the patch notes
The 1.12.2 notes reported that on PC, ray tracing could turn on automatically after loading saved data from an earlier game version. If frame rates were unstable, the publisher advised checking SYSTEM > Graphics Settings > Raytracing Quality and switching ray tracing off if it had been enabled unintentionally.
This was a warning in the historical 1.12.2 notes, not confirmation that the issue affects every PC or remains present on current versions. The patch-notes page was updated on June 26, 2024, to correct an error; it also said further balance adjustments and bug fixes were planned for a future patch.

Is version 1.12.2 current?
No. Version 1.12.2 is a historical patch. Bandai Namco’s later official patch 1.17 page, dated August 27, 2026, identifies App Ver. 1.17 and Regulation Ver. 1.17. That establishes a later version than 1.12.2; it is not a full check of the current regulation state on every platform.

The expansion requires the Elden Ring base game. Bandai Namco’s official game page presents editions combining the base game and expansion and lists PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms. Check platform compatibility and whether you already own the base game before choosing an edition; the expansion is not a replacement for the base game.
