Bridgestone merged with Firestone in 1988, and the Firestone name is also used by Firestone Complete Auto Care, a U.S. retailer for tires, maintenance, and repairs.
What is Firestone?
Firestone began as the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. Bridgestone Americas dates its founding to August 3, 1900, in Akron, Ohio, and says it began manufacturing tires in 1903. Bridgestone Americas’ company history records those milestones.
Today, Firestone is a tire brand and retail identity within the Bridgestone organization, rather than an independent company in its original form. Bridgestone’s corporate timeline records its merger with Firestone in 1988; Bridgestone describes Firestone as the second-largest U.S. tire manufacturer at the time. Bridgestone’s corporate history provides the merger context.
What does Firestone Complete Auto Care do?
Firestone Complete Auto Care is a vehicle-service retailer, distinct from the tire brand itself. Its site lists new tires, oil changes, wheel alignments, brake work, maintenance, and repairs. It also describes a nationwide warranty accepted at more than 1,800 locations. Check the specific location and warranty terms for the vehicle and service you need. Firestone Complete Auto Care’s about page describes its services and warranty, while its homepage promotes common offerings.

The most direct product category is Firestone tires. Firestone Complete Auto Care currently promotes tires from Firestone, Bridgestone, and SureDrive. The available information here does not establish current model specifications, prices, stock, compatibility, or comparative performance, so it does not support naming a universally best Firestone tire. The retailer’s tire listings show the brands it promotes.

How to choose a tire
- Read the tire size and specifications on the vehicle’s tire-information placard and in the owner’s manual.
- Match the tire to your vehicle and intended season, climate, and driving conditions.
- Compare candidate tires on fit, warranty, price, and independently documented test results; verify fitment and availability with the seller before ordering.
A model recommendation needs the vehicle, tire size, driving conditions, and budget. A brand name alone is not enough to determine fit or suitability.
