The “fishing tools” in this update are virtual game items—not real-world gear. The Official Fisch Wiki lists a follow-up patch two days later that increased Megalodon weight and fixed bugs.
What the Ancient Isles update added
The Official Fisch Wiki lists version 1.08, the Ancient Isles update, as released on November 30, 2024, with quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. Its version history then lists version 1.08.0.1 on December 2, 2024, describing an increase to Megalodon weight alongside more bug fixes. These are historical release notes; they do not establish the event’s current availability or today’s balance.
The update’s named items include rods, bait crates, an Eclipse Totem and a Glider. They are in-game content, not evidence of physical fishing products. The location also has its own bestiary, including a Megalodon Hunt section.
Where to find Ancient Isle
Ancient Isle is in the First Sea, far east between Snowcap Island and Mushgrove Swamp. Reaching it means crossing a hazardous patch of ocean: the Official Fisch Wiki warns that the water can damage and sink boats, and recommends using a fast in-game boat.

The island’s surrounding ocean supplies most of its bestiary. It is also identified as the only place where Meteors can land. Beneath the island are the Ancient Archives, which players can access after completing the Fragment Puzzle.
How the Megalodon Hunt works
The Megalodon reference describes the fish appearing behind Ancient Isle during Megalodon Hunts. It reproduces this spawn notification: “There has been a Megalodon spotted past Ancient Isle! Be the first and only to catch it!” The wording is an in-game notification, not a quote from a named developer. The Official Fisch Wiki’s catch list includes both Megalodon and Ancient Megalodon.

The Megalodon reference is from a community wiki, rather than a current official notice. It describes the catch as difficult because the fish moves erratically and applies a substantial progress-speed penalty. Treat those details as reported mechanics, not a guarantee that the live game still behaves exactly the same way.
What bait does the Megalodon prefer?
The community wiki lists Shark Head as the Megalodon’s preferred bait. Because the source is not a current official game notice, confirm the bait and event behavior in-game before relying on them; mechanics may have changed since the page was captured.

What changed in the follow-up patch?
The Official Fisch Wiki’s version history says the December 2, 2024 patch increased Megalodon weight. The Ancient Isle page’s historical note gives the average-weight change as 6,000 kg to 58,500 kg. Those figures describe the reported version-history adjustment, not a current catch-size distribution or a promise about the weight of an individual fish.
What “new fishing tools” means in Fisch
Here, tools means virtual equipment and items used in the game. The Ancient Isle page lists rods, Bait Crates, an Eclipse Totem and a Glider, along with boats and bobbers elsewhere among its in-game content. The available information does not establish a comparative test showing which rod or route is best, so it would be misleading to call one the top choice for catching a Megalodon.
