What was the AMR9 “ETTIN bug”?
Players reported that they had completed the required Week 6 challenges but still could not equip the AMR9’s JAK Ettin Double Barrel Kit. Some described it as missing from the Gunsmith. The reported problem was an in-game unlock or equipment issue—not a physical AMR9 fault. What did the fixes change?

These were two different changes: the January 11 note directly addressed the reported inability to equip the kit after unlocking it. The January 30 note addressed how the attachment behaved in combat. Both entries appear in the official Modern Warfare III Season 1 patch notes.
What changed in the January 30 rework?
Alongside the firing-mechanism change, Activision listed a 75% reduction in aim-down-sight spread and a 50% reduction in the hipfire spread penalty. The notes said the kit was intended to shine in close-to-mid-range engagements. These figures describe the January 30, 2024 update; they should not be read as a statement of the weapon’s current balance or statistics.

Still can’t equip the kit?
The historical patch notes establish that Activision documented an equip fix in 2024. They do not verify whether a particular account has met the unlock requirements, whether the Gunsmith is filtering out the attachment, or whether a new issue affects a current installation. If the kit is still unavailable, check its unlock status and Gunsmith filters, then consult Activision Support for current assistance rather than assuming the old bug is still the cause.
