TechRadar’s June 7 live coverage reported that the game returned online at 10 p.m. ET—earlier than its page had expected—while Epic Games Japan dated the season’s start to June 8 in Japan. The season brought a superhero-training storyline, three named locations and Hero Rank progression.
When did Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 start?
The season was called Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3: Super. Its start fell on different local dates: TechRadar’s US-focused live updates were dated June 7, 2025, and reported Fortnite back online at 10 p.m. ET that evening. Epic Games Japan’s June 9 announcement said the season began June 8 Japan time. Those dates describe the same launch window across time zones, not conflicting global start dates. TechRadar’s dated live coverage records the expected downtime and its later online update; Epic Games Japan’s announcement supplies the Japan-local date.
What the launch-day coverage reported
At 6:42 p.m. ET on June 7, TechRadar expected Fortnite to return around 10 p.m. ET, or 1 a.m. BST on June 8. At 10:28 p.m. ET, the live article reported that Fortnite Super was online earlier than predicted. This is the chronology in that dated report, rather than a separate, independently verified service-status record.
What changed in Fortnite Super?
Epic framed the season around Mask Maker Daigo siphoning energy beneath the island while recruits at Supernova Academy train to resist him. The official season guide named three new locations: Supernova Academy, the training hub; Utopia City, a polished urban area with loot; and Demon’s Domain, Daigo’s citadel.

Hero Rank and Hero Caches
Hero Rank gave players a match-by-match progression system. Every match began at C, with higher ranks of B, A, S and S+. Rank was shared by members of a party. Players could advance by eliminating opponents or henchmen, surviving Storm phases, and taking a Sprite to a Shrine.
Each promotion granted 100 Effective Health and access to the Hero Cache associated with that rank. Cache rewards rose from Uncommon at C to Legendary at S. Players reaching S+ received missing Boons instead of another cache. The rank and reward details are from Epic’s season guide.

New gear and spirits
Epic Games Japan highlighted Robin’s Grapnel Gun, which had greater range than a regular grappler, and Krypto’s Treat, which called Krypto down from space to damage nearby opponents. The announcement also named Dash and Superman spirits among the new spirits. These details are in Epic Games Japan’s season announcement.

Epic Games Japan described free and premium rewards earned through XP in Fortnite experiences. Buying the Super Battle Pass immediately unlocked Robin. Upgrading to the Battle Bundle in Fortnite’s shop immediately unlocked Superman’s outfit and 25 Battle Pass rewards. The announcement said additional Superman items could be earned through quests from July 11, 2025, US time. These were season-specific launch terms, not a statement of what is available now. Epic Games Japan’s announcement also said Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 4 launched at the same time, which explains why coverage of the period could mention another Fortnite season alongside Super.
