What was Rockstar planning to launch?
HotHardware’s November 4, 2024 report described a December update for GTA Online, the online component of Grand Theft Auto V. The report linked to a Rockstar Games Newswire post titled “GTA Online Community Update,” but its body was not accessible for independent review. The specific plans below are therefore attributed to HotHardware’s account of the announcement.
The centerpiece was a revamp of the Darnell Bros. Garment Factory in Los Santos. The factory was to become a base for new robberies, which HotHardware characterized as “thrilling and strategic.” The report also called the planned update “exciting”; those are the publication’s descriptions, not attributed quotations from a named Rockstar representative.
What content did the report list?

- More Dispatch Work: Additional work of this type was listed among the planned activities.
- Equipment and vehicle modifications: The report mentioned new equipment and mods for militarized vehicles.

The report did not establish how large the update would be, how its activities would work in detail, or whether every listed item ultimately shipped as described. It should be read as coverage of a plan announced in 2024, not as confirmation of current in-game content or availability.

What did the report say about GTA Online on PC?
HotHardware noted that, at the time, console versions had features not then available on PC. Its list included HDR, ray tracing, improved texture quality, faster loading, immersive 3D audio, and other platform-specific features. The report said a set of PC technical features was expected “in the new year.” That was a prediction relative to the 2024 article; it does not establish whether those features are available on PC now.
Because platform support and feature availability can change, check current Rockstar product information for the platform and edition you play before relying on this historical comparison. The 2024 report alone is not enough to make a present-day claim about PC parity.

Why the headline can be misleading now
“Soon” referred to December 2024 when HotHardware published its story on November 4 of that year. It does not refer to an upcoming 2026 release. The article was about a GTA Online update connected to Grand Theft Auto V, not a GTA 6 launch, and it does not provide evidence of a newly announced GTA launch today.
