This error usually means Hekate’s launch configuration still points to the older atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin path. Check the selected entry in bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini; current Hekate configuration examples use pkg3=atmosphere/package3 for Atmosphère. Confirm the file and your installed Hekate version before changing the entry.
What the error means
“Error while loading fss0: atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin” identifies the path Hekate tried to load. A legacy path in hekate_ipl.ini is a likely cause, but the message alone cannot tell whether the file is missing, the configuration is outdated, or another issue is present.
Hekate’s release notes say that pkg3 replaces fss0 with the same functionality. The fss0 key remains supported for compatibility but is deprecated. The official Hekate configuration template uses pkg3=atmosphere/package3 in current Atmosphère launch examples.
Check the configuration and SD-card file
- Power off the Switch and access its SD card using your usual method.
- Open
bootloader/hekate_ipl.iniin a plain-text editor. Find the launch entry you select when booting and look foratmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin. Check other entries too if you use more than one. - On the same SD card, check whether
atmosphere/package3exists. Hekate’s template points current Atmosphère launch entries to that path. - Check the Hekate version installed on the card and confirm it supports the configuration syntax you plan to use. The official Hekate template and release notes document the current
pkg3form.
Update only the launch entry you use
If your installed Hekate supports pkg3 and atmosphere/package3 is present, change the intended entry to the template’s pkg3=atmosphere/package3 form. Preserve the rest of your configuration unless you know it needs changing.

The official template has separate examples for SYS and EMU launch targets. Use the entry that matches the target you intend to boot; do not copy a complete INI from someone else without checking its target and settings. The right full configuration cannot be determined without seeing your existing INI and knowing your intended target.
If the error continues
- Re-open the file and make sure you edited the entry Hekate actually launches, rather than a different SYS or EMU entry.
- Confirm that
atmosphere/package3is present at that exact location on the SD card. If it is absent, investigate why the expected file is missing before changing unrelated settings. - If the path is correct and the file is present, check that the files on the card match the versions and configuration you are using. The error alone does not establish that the SD card is damaged or that it needs replacing.
Do not rename fusee-secondary.bin to package3: the official configuration treats Package3 as a specific Atmosphère file, not a renamed version of the old path. Reformatting the SD card is not a first-line fix for this configuration error.
