Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, Wrecked, turned the island’s southern region into a sandstorm-scarred wasteland and made vehicle combat a central part of play. The Fallout crossover was teased before launch and later confirmed in the season’s Battle Pass with the T-60 Power Armor outfit. Wrecked launched May 24, 2024, and its Battle Pass ended August 15, 2024.
What did the teaser confirm?
Epic’s May 24, 2024 announcement confirmed the post-apocalyptic wasteland setting for Chapter 5 Season 3, titled Wrecked. Epic described a “ferocious sandstorm” crossing the island and creating a new southern biome. Its launch-trailer description added that the storm left “wreckage and a savage band of Wasteland Warriors.” Epic’s season announcement and the official launch trailer framed the season around that ruined landscape and its inhabitants.
The theme was not just visual. Epic centered the season on vehicle combat, with Nitro-powered boosts and vehicle modifications supporting aggressive driving and attacks.
How the wasteland shaped the island and gameplay
Three Wasteland Warrior locations
- Redline Rig: a Nitro refinery.
- The Nitrodrome: an arena built around car spectacle.
- Brutal Beachhead: the Wasteland Warriors’ base.
Nitro and vehicle combat
Epic said Nitro increased a car’s speed, reduced fuel use, made ramming explosive, and strengthened attached attack mods. For players, it increased movement and reload speed and granted immunity to fall damage. Vehicle mods included machine-gun and grenade-launcher turrets, spiked bumpers, Cow Catchers, bulletproof tires, and Chonkers Off-Road Tires. These mechanics made the season’s vehicle focus part of its combat design, not simply a backdrop.

Was the Fallout crossover confirmed?
Fallout was teased ahead of launch, and contemporaneous coverage identified the Power Armor imagery in the teaser. The crossover was later reflected in the official Wrecked Battle Pass, which included the T-60 Power Armor outfit. GameSpot’s May 17, 2024 report covered the teaser before the season launched; Epic’s season announcement confirmed the outfit as Battle Pass content.
That confirmation does not make every pre-launch prediction fact. Suggestions that the season would add further Fallout-inspired map areas or weapons, or feature a Furiosa tie-in, were speculation rather than confirmed content in the cited announcements. Epic also introduced original Wasteland characters, including The Machinist, Rust, Peabody, Ringmaster Scarr, Brite Raider, and Megalo Don.

When did the season and Battle Pass end?
Wrecked launched May 24, 2024. Epic said its Battle Pass cost 950 V-Bucks and that players could earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks by leveling it. The season and pass ended August 15, 2024, at 11 PM ET, so the pass is not a current purchase opportunity.
