If Fortnite’s post-match Ready Up button is missing, choose Return To Lobby, then select PLAY! from the lobby to ready up again. Epic has used this as a workaround when it temporarily disabled the post-match button, but that past notice does not confirm the same issue is active now.
How to start another match without the post-match Ready Up button
- On the post-match screen, select Return To Lobby.
- In the lobby, select PLAY! to change your status from Not Ready to Ready.
- If you are in a party, wait for enough party members to ready up for the party to enter a game.
This follows Epic’s published lobby flow and the workaround in a past Fortnite Status notice. Epic’s notice said the post-match button had been disabled while the team investigated an issue and instructed players to return to the lobby. Epic’s party guidance explains that selecting PLAY! readies a player in the lobby.
Why is the Ready Up button missing after my Fortnite match?
There is no single confirmed cause for every player, platform, or mode. Epic has intentionally disabled the post-match button during a past investigation, but that historical notice is not evidence that the disablement is happening now. A 2026 secondary report about update v40.20 said the button may not be working properly and that a fix was expected in a future update; it does not establish whether the issue was later fixed or remains active.
Reports can also concern different experiences. A March 2026 Epic Developer Community post described a matchmaking error after using Ready Up or Play Again in a user-created UEFN experience. That is not proof of the same behavior in standard Fortnite modes. Community posts describing only a spectate option are anecdotal and do not establish how widespread the problem is.

What to check if returning to the lobby does not work
- Check Fortnite Status and Epic Player Support for a current notice before treating an old report as the explanation.
- Note the mode or island you played, your platform, whether you were in a party, which post-match options appeared, and any matchmaking error text. Those details help distinguish a missing button from a separate matchmaking problem.
- If PLAY! in the lobby does not ready you or matchmaking still fails, use Epic Player Support for guidance rather than assuming that switching modes or spectating will fix it; those community suggestions are not verified fixes.
