How have Fortnite birthday events changed over time?
Birthday events have varied by year and game mode. The early patch notes cover both Battle Royale and Save the World, while later notes describe temporary Battle Royale items and event quests.
2019: temporary Battle Royale items
Epic’s v9.41 content update notes describe Birthday Presents as legendary items containing one of six possible loot packages. Birthday Cake spawned around points of interest and restored 5 Health and 5 Shield. Epic said both items would be available starting July 25 and excluded them from Arena and Tournament playlists. Those mechanics describe the 2019 update, not current gameplay.
