Epic’s published terms document a registration window that ran from April 20 through April 24, 2022. Those historical instructions do not establish that the event site still accepts signups or that its rewards can still be earned.
Are Fortnite Lantern Trials still available?
The documented Lantern Trials promotion ended at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on April 24, 2022. Its challenge period began at 4:00 a.m. Eastern Time on April 20, 2022. Epic’s historical terms do not confirm a new event or current access to the old registration page. Check Epic’s official Fortnite channels for any new announcement, and verify its dates and terms before acting.

How did signup and challenges work in 2022?
- During the promotion window, participants were instructed to visit lanterntrials.fortnite.com and follow the registration instructions.
- Participants had to register and log in. The event presented one daily challenge on each day of the challenge period.
- Players completed the daily challenge and earned points. The event site specified the scoring method; examples in Epic’s terms include eliminations, finishing placement, and surviving storm circles.
- Completing a challenge did not by itself guarantee a reward. A participant had to earn enough points for the relevant reward based on leaderboard placement, and Epic verified participants and totals before confirming recipients.
What free reward did the terms name?
The historical terms explicitly identify the “Leadlight” cosmetic wrap as the first stretch-goal reward. Rewards were credited directly to a recipient’s Epic account after the applicable threshold, usually within one hour or as otherwise reasonably required, subject to verification. They were account-bound: recipients could not redeem them for cash, substitute or transfer them, and they had no value outside an Epic account.
Epic also warned that leaderboard points might not be accurate or real-time. A displayed leaderboard position was not confirmation that a player would receive a reward.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.

- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
Who was eligible under the 2022 rules?
The terms generally described eligible participants as people aged 13 or older with a valid Epic account, subject to applicable law and restrictions. A minor below the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction needed consent from a parent or guardian. The rules also excluded specified countries and regions and certain people connected to Epic or the promotion, so eligibility depended on the full terms.
What should you do if Epic announces another event?
- Use the announcement and registration destination linked from an official Epic channel; do not assume the 2022 site or rules apply to a later promotion.
- Check the new event’s dates, eligible regions and ages, challenge requirements, scoring or completion threshold, reward, and delivery rules.
- If you have played Fortnite before, you may already have an Epic account. Epic advises returning players to complete that account rather than create another, so synced progress and purchases remain associated with it. Account setup includes entering a date of birth, choosing a sign-in method, and verifying an emailed six-digit code; linking a platform account is also an option.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA), which Epic lists among ways players may receive free Fortnite items.
How to avoid fake free-reward offers
Epic says free Fortnite items may be available through in-game challenges, free Battle Pass content, and securing an account with 2FA. Many items are season-specific, and Player Support says it cannot grant missed items simply on request. Be wary of third-party pages that promise V-Bucks or cosmetics in exchange for account access. Epic Games Player Support says: “Any real offers will be displayed in the Epic Games Store or on the official Epic Games websites or social media channels.”
