Empress is an Epic Back Bling listed at 1,000 V-Bucks, and Fortnite.GG records its last Item Shop appearance as October 29, 2024. That long gap makes it uncommon in the shop lately, but it does not prove Empress is Fortnite’s rarest item. Epic says the Item Shop rotates and items may return, but has announced no date or guarantee for Empress.
Is the Empress Back Bling returning?
There is no confirmed return date for Empress. Epic Games Support says the Item Shop constantly rotates and advises players to check back if an item they want is no longer available. Its guidance is general, not an Empress-specific schedule or promise. Epic’s Item Shop return guidance explains the policy.
For the current listing, check the in-game Item Shop; historical records cannot confirm what is available today. Fortnite.GG’s Empress page is useful for its recorded shop history, but it is a third-party database rather than an Epic announcement.
What is Empress, and how much does it cost?
Fortnite.GG lists Empress as an Epic Backpack, also called a Back Bling, priced at 1,000 V-Bucks. It gives March 15, 2019 as the release date. A Back Bling is a cosmetic that can be equipped independently, according to the Epic Developer Community’s Back Bling definition.

Is Empress the rarest item in Fortnite?
There is not enough evidence to call Empress the rarest item in the game. “Rarest” can refer to different things, and the available records answer only some of them:
- Longest time since a shop appearance: Empress has a long gap since its latest recorded visit, but that alone does not establish that no other cosmetic has been absent longer.
- Fewest recorded shop appearances: Fortnite.GG lists eight for Empress. Without a complete, comparable ranking across Fortnite cosmetics, that count does not establish a game-wide lowest.
- Fewest owners: The cited records provide no ownership statistics, so they cannot show how many players have Empress.
A defensible comparison would need one consistent source and date, and a clearly stated measure—such as recorded shop appearances or days since last appearance. The available evidence supports calling Empress uncommon in the shop lately, not definitively Fortnite’s rarest item.

Does a Battle Pass return rule apply to Empress?
No such conclusion follows from Epic’s Battle Pass policy. Epic says items in future Battle Passes might be offered in the Shop at least 18 months after a pass expires, while also noting that not every item is guaranteed to return. That policy concerns Battle Pass items; it does not establish that Empress is one or dictate its ordinary Item Shop rotation. See Epic’s guidance on previous Fortnite Pass items and its August 7, 2024 announcement about future Battle Pass exclusivity.
