Why $69.99 and $79.99 became part of the conversation
Nintendo of America’s April 18, 2025 announcement set the U.S. manufacturer’s suggested retail price for Mario Kart World at $79.99 and Donkey Kong Bananza at $69.99. Nintendo said both prices applied to physical and digital versions of those two games at launch. Those prominent launch prices explain the headline figures, but they do not describe every first-party Switch 2 game or edition.
Nintendo also said in that announcement: “Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.” That is a general caveat about possible future changes, not confirmation that either named price has changed. How to compare editions and prices fairly
A “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” is not one standard price category. The two Zelda editions listed here differ by $10, while the Animal Crossing edition is $64.99. Upgrade packs are separate offers from complete editions: Nintendo lists Animal Crossing’s pack at $4.99 and Kirby’s at $19.99. Compare the product you need, not just the title name.
Retailer prices may differ from Nintendo’s listed prices. The 2025 announcement establishes launch MSRP for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza; it does not establish a current price for every retailer or every title.
