Yes—the specific Fortnite download problem reported on Xbox PC was marked fixed on November 19, 2025. Windows Central said the corrected game package should then be delivered. If the Xbox app still showed the broken installation and no update arrived, its suggested workaround was to uninstall that copy and download the game again. This was a package-delivery incident, not evidence that Fortnite was broadly broken on Xbox Ally devices.
What was wrong with the Xbox PC download?
Windows Central reported that some people downloading Fortnite through Xbox PC received a broken executable of about 10 MB instead of the full game package. The report described a delayed update and version mismatch as the likely explanation. It attributed the problem to Epic based on information from Microsoft Store sources; that is the news report’s account, not a direct public statement from Epic.
In its November 19, 2025 update, Windows Central said the Xbox PC game had been updated and should provide the proper package, which the article described as 145 GB. That figure is the report’s expected package size at the time—not an independently measured size or a guarantee of Fortnite’s current download size. The report did not establish how many users were affected.
How to recover a broken installation
If you still have the specific stale Xbox PC installation described in the report and the corrected update is not arriving, use the limited workaround Windows Central gave:

- Uninstall the broken Fortnite installation from the Xbox app on PC.
- Download Fortnite again through Xbox PC so the app can retrieve the corrected package.
This advice applies to that package-delivery problem. It does not diagnose a new crash, sign-in error, network issue, or a problem with another device.
Is Fortnite supported on Xbox Ally now?
Xbox’s Store listing currently labels Fortnite Free+, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Handheld Optimized, and lists PC and handheld among its supported play options. Those labels and platform details can change; check the live Xbox Store listing for current information.

Microsoft later confirmed the handheld compatibility context in a June 19, 2026 developer article. Zach Hooper, Principal Product Manager, Xbox, wrote: “Epic Games used them to ship Fortnite on XBOX on PC and achieve Handheld Optimized certification on the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally.” This confirms later Xbox PC and Ally compatibility work; it does not independently verify or explain the 2025 download incident. Microsoft had also announced the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X availability and its Handheld Compatibility Program on October 30, 2025. Compatibility information appears on product pages across Windows devices and in a handheld-compatible channel on supported Windows handhelds.

First identify the exact error and whether you are launching through the Xbox app or Epic Games Launcher. If the issue is not the small, broken Xbox PC package, use troubleshooting relevant to that symptom rather than assuming the 2025 fix applies.

For general console issues, Epic’s support guidance recommends checking the exact error and known issues, installing game and platform updates, clearing the platform cache, reinstalling Fortnite, and power cycling the console. Persistent console problems may require contacting the platform maker.
