If Fortnite XP is missing after a match, first check what kind of progress you expected: match or quest XP, a Creative island grant, a seasonal Battle Pass level, or a feature-specific counter. Those tracks can behave differently, so there is no single fix supported for every case. Check the relevant progress screen and whether its season is still active; then use the mode-specific checks below.
First identify which XP or progress is missing
Epic lists quests and match play among Fortnite’s main XP sources, and says XP earned through Fortnite experiences advances all active passes simultaneously. That does not mean every feature counter is the same as pass XP. Compare what you saw during or after the match with the specific total, pass level, or feature tab that looks wrong. Epic’s XP guidance describes the general sources.
- Standard match or quest: Check the intended progression screen and whether a quest was completed or an XP notification appeared.
- Creative or UEFN island: Creative XP can diminish, and some UEFN island grants have historically appeared later.
- Battle Pass: Confirm the specific pass and season; a pass from a season that has ended no longer gains XP progression.
- Event or feature tab: A displayed counter may follow its own refresh schedule, separate from pass XP.
If XP is missing after an ordinary match
Start with the basics rather than assuming the game lost a grant: check the relevant pass or progression screen, confirm the season is active, and distinguish a missing pass level from a missing feature-specific stat. The available official guidance identifies match play and quests as XP sources but does not establish a universal post-match delay or a guaranteed account recovery procedure.
If the same visible problem persists, report it in-game while it is still on screen. Include useful context such as the mode, platform, approximate match time, and which progress track appears affected; this helps describe the issue but is not a published list of mandatory fields.

If Creative XP stopped or dropped
Epic says Creative XP can diminish after a threshold across Creative games. Repeating the same actions or playing the same game can also reduce XP. If XP has stopped across all Creative games, Epic’s recommendation is to wait 24 hours and try again. This guidance is specific to Creative; it is not a universal timer for Battle Royale XP or every progression feature. Epic’s Creative XP support article explains the diminishing-returns guidance.
For island creators, XP eligibility also depends on Accolade Device setup and island XP guidelines. Epic says Player Support cannot manually re-enable island XP or provide specific details about why it was removed. That creator-facing guidance does not establish that an individual player’s account has been restricted. Epic’s island XP guidance covers creator eligibility.

If progress appeared during play but not afterward
Epic’s April 21, 2023 announcement said XP from playing UEFN islands would be granted hourly and could appear later in the same or next session. This documents a historical delay for UEFN island play; it does not confirm current timing for every mode or XP grant. Read Epic’s UEFN XP announcement.
If the Battle Pass season has ended
Epic says XP progression on a season’s Battle Pass stops when that season ends. Check the pass and season you mean before treating a lack of new progress as a post-match bug. Epic’s Battle Pass support page explains this season limit.

If an event or feature counter is stale
Some tabs have their own refresh rules. For example, Epic’s Showdown support article says reward stats refresh daily and advises allowing 24 hours after matches for progress to appear. That timing applies to the Showdown tab discussed there; do not assume it applies to Battle Pass XP or all match rewards. Epic’s Showdown rewards guidance describes that feature’s refresh.
Check whether Fortnite services are reporting an incident
Epic’s public status page showed Fortnite and Game Services operational, with no incident reported for October 7, 2026, when checked on October 8, 2026. A status page is only a snapshot: an operational listing cannot diagnose an individual account or rule out a problem that began later. Check Epic Games status for the current listing.

Report an XP problem that remains visible
- Open Fortnite’s game menu and choose the report option.
- Submit a report, choose a bug, then select the closest relevant reason. If none fits, Epic says to select “other.”
- Submit the report while the problem is visible. The in-game tool attaches a screenshot taken when reporting; it does not accept video evidence.
Menu wording can vary by platform and may change, so follow the labels shown in your game. Epic’s instructions are in How to submit a Fortnite bug report in-game.
