The February 2024 report about a Fortnite x Avatar: The Last Airbender mid-season event began as a leak, not an official announcement. Epic later confirmed the collaboration: its Avatar-themed Elements event ran from April 12 to May 3, 2024, adding bending abilities, themed rewards and an event pass.
What the February 2024 leak claimed
On February 26, 2024, GameSpot reported that leaker iFireMonkey had described an upcoming Fortnite mid-season event pass tied to Avatar: The Last Airbender. The report attributed the claims to a February 25 post and quoted the leak’s wording: “Upcoming Mid-Season Event Pass” and “Collect all 6 Books by completing quests to get the Appa Glider!” It also pointed to an Aang Outfit and Appa Glider. Other possible characters were uncertain, and no official announcement had been made when GameSpot published the story. GameSpot’s February 26 report

What Epic later confirmed
Epic’s official Avatar: Elements event page confirms the crossover and its details. The event began with the v29.20 hotfix on April 12, 2024, and ended May 3, 2024, at 2 AM ET. Fortnite’s announcement came after the leak: GameSpot reported on April 8 that Katara, Zuko and Toph were coming to the Item Shop and that the event would start April 12. Four bending abilities came to Battle Royale
During the event, players could find four Avatar-inspired bending techniques through shrines, chests or ground loot. Epic described their effects as follows:

Epic also said Olympian Powers were vaulted for the event. Its tournament notes excluded Earthbending, Firebending and Airbending from tournaments.
How the Elements Pass and rewards worked
The event had a free Elements Pass track and an optional Premium Reward Track. The premium upgrade cost 1,000 V-Bucks during the 2024 event. Buying it automatically unlocked the Aang Outfit; Avatar State Aang was the track’s final reward. The free track included Sokka’s Space Sword Pickaxe, while the premium rewards also included the Air Nomad Staff Pickaxe and Momo Messenger Back Bling. Epic’s event details
Players could earn the Appa Glider by completing at least four quests in each of the six Chakra phases. Epic said the pass rewards and Appa Glider were not exclusive to the event and might be sold in the Fortnite Shop later. That was a possibility stated at the time—not confirmation that these items are currently available or that the event will return.

Which Avatar characters appeared in the crossover?
The Chapter 5 Season 2 crossover included Korra in the season’s Battle Pass. Aang was tied to the Elements Pass, while Katara, Toph and Zuko were offered through the Item Shop before the event ended. The exact availability windows for those shop items are not established here. GameSpot’s April 8 coverage reported the shop announcement; Epic’s event page documented the event and its rewards.

The report correctly anticipated an Avatar-themed mid-season pass, Aang-related rewards and an Appa Glider quest reward. Epic’s later event documentation confirmed those elements and added specifics about the dates, bending gameplay and reward tracks. But the February story remained a leak report at the time it was published; the later confirmation should not be read back into it as if Epic had announced the event in February.
The event is a completed Chapter 5 Season 2 collaboration, not new 2026 news. Epic’s statement that items might reach the shop later does not establish whether they can be bought now.
