Who was on the Genshin Impact 5.3 Phase 1 character banners?
HoYoverse’s Version 5.3 Event Wishes Notice – Phase I, posted December 30, 2024, listed two paired Character Event Wishes:
| Banner | Featured 5-star character | Element |
|---|---|---|
| Night-Igniting Flame | Mavuika | Pyro |
| Obsidian Opalstar | Citlali | Cryo |
Both banners boosted the same 4-star characters: Kachina (Geo), Bennett (Pyro), and Diona (Cryo). The notice said the event-exclusive 5-star characters would not be available in the standard wish, Wanderlust Invocation, during the notice’s terms. Both characters also had Test Run trials available during the wish period.
When did the Phase 1 banners end?
The Phase I wishes ran from after the Version 5.3 update until January 21, 2025, at 17:59, as stated in the official notice. The notice does not specify the exact clock time they began.
How did the character-banner guarantee count work?
HoYoverse stated that the guarantee count for “Character Event Wish” and “Character Event Wish-2” was shared and accumulated across the two banners. That count was independent of the guarantee counts for other wish types.
Which weapons were featured in Phase 1?
The Phase I Epitome Invocation featured these 5-star weapons and boosted 4-star weapons:
| Rarity | Featured weapons |
|---|---|
| 5-star | A Thousand Blazing Suns (Claymore); Starcaller’s Watch (Catalyst) |
| 4-star | Lithic Blade (Claymore); Sacrificial Sword (Sword); Favonius Lance (Polearm); Favonius Codex (Catalyst); The Stringless (Bow) |
The notice also said players could use Epitomized Path to chart toward one of the two featured 5-star weapons.

How should you choose between Mavuika and Citlali?
The Phase I notice confirms the characters and their elements, but it does not compare their gameplay or establish that one is stronger or more valuable. To decide which banner better suits your account, consider the role you want to fill, your current and planned teams, the playstyle you prefer, and which character addresses a need you actually have. The announcement alone cannot determine which choice is best for an individual account.
