Before Genshin Impact Version 5.0 launched, community posts circulated claims that Natlan’s map would be very large. Those claims were not officially verified, and the available sources do not establish a precise size or a numerical comparison with other regions. HoYoverse later confirmed Natlan’s arrival in Version 5.0, which went live on August 28, 2024.
What did the Natlan map leak say?
The pre-release discussion centered on a broad claim: Natlan’s Version 5.0 map would be very large. A thread on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit discussed earlier claims, but it is user-generated discussion and does not authenticate the source or prove the claim was accurate. A HoYoLAB user also posted “Maps v5.0” on July 16, 2024; that establishes a contemporaneous community map post, not an official HoYoverse map or the original source of a leak.
So the defensible takeaway is limited: players were discussing a potentially large Natlan map before release, but the surfaced material does not substantiate a specific area measurement, percentage, or ranking against Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, or Fontaine.
What did HoYoverse officially announce?
In an August 16, 2024 announcement on PlayStation.Blog, HoYoverse Studio Technical Director Zhenzhong Yi said Version 5.0, titled “Flowers Resplendent on the Sun-Scorched Sojourn,” would go live on August 28 and introduce Natlan, Teyvat’s sixth major nation. The announcement described three of Natlan’s six tribes, along with the region’s terrain and traversal features. It confirmed the nation and launch timing; it did not provide a numerical map-size comparison.

How big was Natlan’s map in Genshin Impact 5.0?
No precise size can be responsibly given from these sources. They do not report a consistently measured playable area or an official figure. A post-release comparison video published August 29, 2024 can show the map players saw after launch, but visual comparison is not a quantitative measurement and does not prove that a particular pre-release claim was correct.
Without a shared measurement method—for example, a defined boundary and consistently measured playable land area—statements that Natlan was a certain percentage larger than another nation would be unsupported by this evidence.
What areas were included in Natlan at launch?
A third-party map reference, HoYoDex, lists four areas for the Version 5.0 Natlan map:

This list is attributed to that map reference, not to HoYoverse’s announcement. The official announcement instead highlighted the region’s introduction, its tribes, and its terrain and traversal features.

Not in a verifiable, numerical sense. Post-release footage offers a retrospective look at Natlan, but neither the footage nor the community posts establish that an anonymous or unverified size claim was accurate. The release confirms Natlan arrived in Version 5.0; it does not retroactively authenticate the rumor.
