For a completion-focused run, an unofficial interactive map can help you find optional activities, filter markers and track what you have collected. It is a convenience, not a prerequisite: Ghost of Yōtei encourages discovery through its own map and exploration tools. The World Atlas guide lists six main base-game regions plus a small Mount Yōtei area, and reports 310 collectibles and activities; treat those figures as that guide’s counts, not official statistics.
Which interactive map should you use?
There is no established accuracy ranking for the available options. Choose based on how you want to search and record progress, and remember that both services below are unofficial rather than endorsed by PlayStation or Sucker Punch.

To choose, consider whether you need offline access, how well the markers can be filtered or searched, and whether checklists or personal notes fit your completion routine. World Atlas is also useful as a regional and collectible guide, but its page is not presented here as a comparable interactive map app.
How many regions are on the Ghost of Yōtei map?
The World Atlas guide describes six main base-game regions in Ezo, the land it identifies as present-day Hokkaido in 1603, plus a small area on Mount Yōtei: Yōtei Grasslands, Ishikari Plain, Tokachi Range, Nayoro Wilds, Teshio Ridge and Oshima Coast. Its guide is about the base game; PlayStation describes the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion as introducing a new area of Ezo, and World Atlas names that added area as Ashoro Foothills. Keep the expansion area separate from the base-game count.

- Stunning graphics and gameplay, explore the wild and striking lands around Mount Yotei on foot or horseback. Travel picturesque parts of northern Japan through grasslands, snowy ridges, fields of wildflowers, and more.
- Discover renegade combat, engage in lawless katana combat and battles with adversaires. Train with various sensei as you find and learn to use each new weapon.

How do I unlock Oshima Coast and reach Nayoro Wilds?
World Atlas says the game initially makes Yōtei Grasslands, Tokachi Range and Nayoro Wilds accessible. It describes the following routes and tale gates:

If a marker appears to be beyond your reach, check whether its region has opened through the story before treating it as a route-finding problem.

Can you miss collectibles, and where can you track what you found?
World Atlas says collectibles are not missable because free roam continues after the story. It also warns that Nine Tails’ Puzzle Boxes and Ainu Items do not automatically appear on the map when nearby, so absence of an automatic marker does not mean there is nothing to discover.

Use an interactive map’s check-off controls, where available, to record completed locations; custom markers can help note places to revisit. For in-game exploration, TechRadar’s review describes rain appearing as raindrops on the map, the spyglass as a way to identify and mark points of interest, and objectives as presented through cards rather than a dense conventional side-quest list. Those are reviewer observations, not an official technical specification.

The game’s exploration tools support looking around and discovering points of interest rather than presenting every optional task as a conventional marker list. PlayStation calls Ghost of Yōtei “a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan.” An external map is therefore best treated as an optional completion aid: use it when you want to plan a sweep, find a specific category or keep a checklist, and leave it closed when discovery is part of the fun.
