Yes. Ghost of Yōtei includes a dual-wielding weapon called the Dual Katana. PlayStation describes it as fast and flowing, with combos suited to overwhelming spear enemies. It is one of five melee weapon types in the game, each intended for a different combat role. Atsu learns weapons through training with master warriors, so the guide does not suggest that every type is available from the start.
The five melee weapon types
PlayStation’s official combat guide presents weapon choice as tactical: each type has a stated purpose, and switching weapons to suit an enemy matters. Its matchup descriptions are official guidance, not a claim about independent gameplay testing.

What dual wielding means here
The official name is Dual Katana: Atsu fights with a katana in each hand. Sony characterizes its approach as speed and flowing combos, particularly against spear users. It is one option in a broader weapon system, not the game’s sole fighting style.
Ranged weapons and quickfire tools

- Bows: Shortbow and Longbow, with specialized arrows.
- Firearm: Tanegashima matchlock, with two ammunition types.
- Quickfire tools: Kunai, Smoke Bombs, and Metsubushi.
The guide also mentions weapon-specific techniques and other combat abilities, including disarming, mounted tackles, and calling on Atsu’s wolf companion. These are additional tools and abilities, not extra entries in the five-weapon melee list.
How Atsu gets new weapons
In its April 2025 announcement, Sony said Atsu could seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills. The official combat guide likewise says weapons are unlocked by training under master warriors. That means the list describes the game’s weapon types, not a promise that Atsu starts with all of them.

How the weapons fit into Legends
Sony’s February 12, 2026 announcement for the co-op Legends mode describes four classes with different specialties. These class assignments belong to Legends and should not be confused with the main game’s weapon descriptions.

Sony says every Legends class can use a katana and a ranged weapon, while each excels in a different weapon or combat system. Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, put it this way: “While any class can use a katana and ranged weapon, they also each excel in a different one of Ghost of Yōtei’s weapon and combat systems.”

What later announcements add
Sony’s August 2026 Complete Edition announcement said the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion adds new heavy weapons. It also described Most Wanted as a single-player combat survival mode with unlockable characters, and identified Atsu as a master of Dual Katana, Oyuki as excelling with Kusarigama, and Nagato as shining with Yari. The announcement set the patch date at October 1, 2026 globally and October 2 in some territories; those dates are regional, so availability may depend on territory.
