YouTuber Super Louis 64 adapted the motion-controlled PS2 Katana Controller from Onimusha 3: Demon Siege to play Ghost of Tsushima. GamesRadar reported that he mapped a real sword swing to a light attack and also got heavy attacks, sheathing, and parrying working. It was a player-made modification, not an official accessory or a plug-and-play setup.
What controller did the mod use?
The device was the Onimusha 3 PS2 Katana Controller, a motion-controlled peripheral built around a DualShock 2. GamesRadar described it as a hefty sword-shaped controller, with analogue sticks and face buttons split between the front and rear of the hilt. It was made for the PS2 era and was not designed as a Ghost of Tsushima accessory.
How did the katana controller work in Ghost of Tsushima?
GamesRadar’s August 24, 2020 report says the motion input initially proved imperfect. Super Louis 64 nevertheless mapped a physical sword swing to the game’s light attack, and got heavy attacks, putting the sword away, and parrying to work as well. The report describes the result, not a complete control scheme: it does not establish that every game action was mapped.
Can you reproduce the modification?
The published account is not a build guide. It does not specify the adapter hardware, software, wiring, or full control layout needed to make the legacy controller work with the game. Without those details, the report is not enough to reliably recreate the setup, and compatibility with other platforms or game versions is not established.

Is the controller officially supported today?
No official support for the PS2 Katana Controller is established by the report. The 2020 story concerns a player modification, rather than a product made or endorsed for Ghost of Tsushima.
For separate PC context, the Epic Games Store lists Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR’S CUT for Windows and says a wired DualSense connection is required for the full range of controller features. What to check if you are looking for the old controller
The device is legacy hardware, not a recommended modern controller. Current availability, condition, and compatibility are unverified. If considering a used listing, check that it is the exact Onimusha 3 PS2 Katana Controller, confirm what parts are included, inspect the condition, and ask the seller for evidence that it works.
