If Geometry Dash closes as soon as you open it on iOS 17, start with steps that do not erase game data: close and reopen the app, restart your device, then check for updates. The US App Store listing states iOS 12.0 or later as the requirement, so iOS 17 meets that minimum—but this does not rule out a bug affecting a particular game version or device.
Why might Geometry Dash close on iOS 17?
There is no confirmed iOS 17-specific cause established for this launch problem. RobTop’s crash FAQ says crashes can have multiple causes, including incompatibility, locally oversized save files, and levels with many objects; it does not diagnose this particular iOS 17 symptom. A report on the US App Store listing describes the full version closing immediately after opening, but that is one user’s experience, not proof that all iOS 17 users are affected.
The listing says Geometry Dash requires iOS 12.0 or later, which includes iOS 17. It shows version 2.208 and “Jan 29”; the year is not displayed in the reviewed listing text. Meeting the stated minimum requirement does not guarantee that every device and app-version combination will work without bugs.

- Force-close Geometry Dash and reopen it. If the app is stuck or immediately closes, dismiss it from the app switcher, then launch it again.
- Restart your iPhone or iPad. After the device restarts, try opening the game again.
- Check for an app update. Open the App Store and check for available updates for Geometry Dash. Install one if available.
- Update iOS if no app update is available. Apple advises updating the device software when an app has no update available. Use the update option in your device’s Settings.
Protect your game progress before reinstalling
Do not delete Geometry Dash as an early troubleshooting step. Apple warns that deleting an app may remove data stored on the device. RobTop also says deleting the mobile game erases local data; progress saved to the game’s cloud can be loaded again after reinstalling.
Before deleting or reinstalling, open the game if possible and confirm that your progress has been saved to the game’s cloud. If you cannot verify a cloud save, treat the local progress as at risk. Reinstall only after weighing that risk; a cloud save is the recovery route RobTop documents, not a guarantee that unsaved local progress can be restored.

When to contact support
If the restart, update checks, and other low-risk steps do not resolve the crash, Apple recommends contacting the app developer. RobTop’s FAQ says it no longer answers its support email because of message volume and suggests contacting an Advisor or Moderator for important matters. Its FAQ is the documented route for finding guidance; do not rely on the old support email as a dependable response channel.
