That figure is useful for following that guide, but it is not an established maximum: the region’s achievement tracks milestones up to 240, while community sources claim totals of 333 or 336 under broader counting conventions. No authoritative source in the available references reconciles those numbers.

Beebom’s guide to Chenyu Vale chest locations includes its area breakdown and route notes. Express Gaming repeats the same 152 total and chest-type breakdown, but that agreement does not resolve how the figure compares with achievement or community counts: Express Gaming’s Chenyu Vale guide.

Why do other sources give higher totals?
The numbers appear to describe different scopes, and the sources do not provide a reliable way to reconcile them. The achievement reference for Chenyu’s Splendor lists Jademound Treasure Hunter milestones for opening 60, 120, and 240 chests in Chenyu Vale. A milestone proves that the counter tracks progress to that threshold; it does not by itself establish the region’s maximum. See the Chenyu’s Splendor achievement reference.
Separately, a video guide’s title claims “333 (total 336),” and a 2024 Reddit discussion describes 333 achievement-counted chests plus three that do not count toward the regional achievement. When comparing a chest count with another guide, check what it includes: listed treasure chests alone, chests counted by the regional achievement, or a broader set that may include additional or quest-related chests. Also check whether it covers underground and puzzle-gated locations and whether its area subtotals add to its stated total. The references above do not settle every scope difference, so none supports treating 152, 240, or 336 as an undisputed all-chests maximum.
Where should you start looking?
Chests in Chenyu Vale can be above ground or underground, and some require solving puzzles or completing challenges. A surface-only sweep may therefore leave locations undiscovered. Beebom’s directions provide a starting route for two areas:

Beebom recommends starting at the Statue of the Seven and moving east. It places many chests around the center, with others along the eastern and western slopes. The guide also notes a Luxurious Chest puzzle that requires two Fragrant Woods. Treat these as the guide’s route suggestions, not as independently verified directions.
Chiwang Terrace
The suggested route starts at the waypoint, collects nearby chests, then checks the northern and eastern outskirts. The available directions do not establish a complete, coordinate-by-coordinate walkthrough for every area; use the linked guide or a map or video walkthrough for exact positions.
