Menlo Ventures and Arcadia Gaming Partners led the round. It was not the company’s latest reported financing for long: a $60 million Series A followed in July 2025.
Why Good Job Games raised $23 million
The seed round was intended to fund Good Job Games’ next growth phase: expanding its games and reaching more players. In its announcement, the company emphasized Match Villains, a match-3 puzzle game it wanted to take to a larger audience. CEO and co-founder Ilker Ilicali said scaling that game was the immediate priority.
The financing also marked a shift for a company that said it had grown without external investment until then. Ilicali described bringing in investors as a strategic move for the company’s next stage.
What the company was building toward
From hyper-casual publishing to match-3
Founded in 2017 by Ilker Ilicali and Nazim Akmandil, Good Job Games is a Türkiye-based mobile-game company. Its earlier work included hyper-casual publishing. The company said that during its first two years it exceeded three billion downloads, and that it later sold Zen Match before shifting its focus toward match-3 games. Those download and company-history figures come from Good Job Games’ own March 2025 announcement, rather than an independent audit.

Investors praised Match Villains’ retention and quality in coverage of the round. Those remarks are opinions and attributed assessments: the reports do not provide independently verified retention, revenue, profitability, or user-acquisition-cost figures for the game.

The later Series A means the $23 million seed should be understood as an early financing milestone, not the latest round reported in 2025. The July 2025 report put total investment at $83 million by that point; the sources cited here do not establish whether the company raised another round after that report.

The public announcements establish the round sizes, participating investors, and the company’s stated plan to scale its games, particularly Match Villains. They do not establish how the capital was allocated in detail or provide independently verified commercial performance metrics for the game. Good Job Games said its team included more than 100 developers, designers, and artists at the time of the seed announcement; GamesBeat separately described a team of about 120 people.
