For Kanya’s “Seeking the Goldenfish” side mission in Monster Hunter Wilds, check the fishing spot in Scarlet Forest Area 6, near Camp 6: Flowering Rocks. Use the Capture Net on a Goldenfish, then return to Kanya. The fish may not appear on every visit, so use the refresh steps below if the spot is empty.
Unlock and start “Seeking the Goldenfish”
- Complete Kanya’s earlier fishing quest, “Fishing: Life, in Microcosm,” which asks you to catch any fish.
- Speak to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp to start “Seeking the Goldenfish.”
PowerPyx describes “Seeking the Goldenfish” as Kanya’s second fishing quest. PowerPyx’s walkthrough gives the prerequisite and start point; Game8’s mission guide also identifies it as a Kanya quest.
Where to find the Goldenfish
Travel to Scarlet Forest Area 6 and check the fishing spot at Camp 6: Flowering Rocks. PowerPyx reports finding a Goldenfish there during Fallow weather. That is a reported sighting, not an established weather requirement, and the guide warns that fish and other endemic creatures do not spawn on every visit.
How to catch and hand in the Goldenfish
- At the fishing spot, equip or select the Capture Net and aim it at the Goldenfish.
- Use the Capture Net to catch the fish; this quest uses capture rather than requiring you to reel it in with a fishing rod.
- Return to Kanya to complete the mission.
At the start of the quest, Kanya provides Golden Bughead and Common Wood Minnow. PowerPyx recommends those bait options, and Game8 also recommends Golden Bughead. The sources do not establish that either bait is mandatory for using the Capture Net.

Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
What to do if the Goldenfish is not there
Try refreshing endemic-life spawns rather than assuming the weather or bait is wrong. PowerPyx recommends fast-travelling to another map and then returning to the Scarlet Forest spot. If the fish still has not appeared, repeat the trip or rest at a portable BBQ Grill or in a tent to change the time and weather and refresh spawns. The guide reports a cost of 300 Guild Points for resting; it does not establish that this guarantees a Goldenfish.
