Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons is the game’s third expansion, taking the story to Cantha and adding four maps, nine elite specializations, skiffs, fishing, Jade Bots, the two-player Siege Turtle, strike missions, and legendary weapons. Whether it is worth buying depends on which of those systems appeal to you—and whether you already own the other expansions.
What does End of Dragons include?
ArenaNet describes End of Dragons as the third Guild Wars 2 expansion. It returns players to Cantha, a region separated from central Tyria and Elona for more than two centuries in the game’s fiction. The official feature list includes four new maps and nine elite specializations, one for each profession, alongside several new ways to explore and play. See the official End of Dragons page and the End of Dragons FAQ for the product details.
- Skiffs and fishing: Skiffs are personal boats that can carry a group, while fishing adds catch-focused activities and events.
- Jade Bots: These companion devices add utility to exploration and other play. Their depth is one point raised by a reviewer below.
- Siege Turtle: This two-player mount splits movement and weapon operation between its driver and passenger.
- Strike missions: Squad-based encounters designed for groups of ten.
- Legendary weapons: The expansion adds new legendary weapon options.
The feature descriptions and group-play details are also outlined in NCSOFT’s July 27, 2021 announcement.
What did reviewers think of End of Dragons?
One specific review in the available coverage is Meristation’s Spanish-language PC review, published April 14, 2022. The reviewer praised Cantha’s visual appeal and the soundtrack, and found the Jade Bot useful while wishing it had been used more deeply. The review also notes that the four maps use familiar Guild Wars 2 map activities. These are that reviewer’s impressions, not a claim of universal critical consensus. Read the full Meristation review for its complete assessment.

Performance comments are dated, not a buying benchmark
In its test setup, Meristation reported DirectX 11 performance 20% or 30% better than without it, but also described graphical glitches and called DirectX 11 experimental at the time. That is a reviewer-reported result from 2022, not a current performance guarantee or a sound basis for choosing hardware.
Is End of Dragons worth buying?
The expansion is most compelling if you want to explore Cantha, try the profession specializations, or spend time with its movement and group-play additions. The review above gives particular praise to the environments and music, while its reservations about the Jade Bot’s depth and the familiar map activities may matter if you want every system to feel entirely new.

Steam’s listing showed 68% positive from 108 user reviews when checked on October 8, 2026. That is a dated, platform-specific user-review snapshot—not a critic score or a stable verdict. Steam review totals and sentiment can change.
Do you need the other Guild Wars 2 expansions?
The core game is free, and ArenaNet says purchasing End of Dragons upgrades a free account. However, buying End of Dragons alone does not include Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire. ArenaNet says those expansions are included when you buy a collection edition; its versions and digital items page describes the Elder Dragon Saga Complete Collection as including the first three expansions and Living World seasons 2–5.

Steam separately lists the Steam version of the base game as a requirement for its expansion listing. Check the account and platform requirements for the version you intend to buy rather than assuming an ArenaNet account purchase and a Steam purchase are interchangeable. The Steam listing gives its platform-specific requirements.
When did End of Dragons launch?
ArenaNet gives February 28, 2022 as the expansion’s original release date. Steam lists August 23, 2022 as its Steam release date. Those dates refer to the original launch and the later Steam release, respectively; they are not conflicting launch dates.

Is End of Dragons available physically?
No physical collector’s edition is established by ArenaNet’s FAQ: it describes End of Dragons as a digital download and says there will not be a physical collector’s edition. NCSOFT’s 2021 announcement did promote an Aurene statue preorder window from July 27 through August 20, 2021, but that historical offer does not establish current availability. The available information does not establish a current physical soundtrack, artbook, or other physical edition of the expansion.
Which edition should you check before buying?
ArenaNet’s currently accessible UK product page describes Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions. The Ultimate description includes 4,000 gems. Prices and offers on that page are region-specific and may change, so check the live ArenaNet product page for the price and contents shown in your region before checkout. The support FAQ also lists edition contents, including pre-purchase bonus items; do not assume those historical bonuses are part of every current offer.
