Grounded 2 launched in Early Access on July 29, 2025, with a starting zone that Xbox Wire said was nearly as large as the original Grounded’s entire backyard. That comparison described the starting zone—not the full planned Brookhollow Park—and official sources do not give a definitive total map size or the percentage available at launch.
What the launch map teaser actually said
In its June 8, 2025 announcement, Xbox Wire described Brookhollow Park as a “vibrant, nostalgia-soaked suburban wilderness set in 1992,” adding that “the starting zone alone” nearly matched the scale of the first game’s entire backyard map.
The key phrase is “starting zone alone.” It gives a comparison for the area players begin in; it does not mean that the whole planned park is only the size of the first game’s backyard. The announcement says the broader world stretches beyond the original backyard, but supplies no final area measurement.
When Grounded 2 entered Early Access
Grounded 2 entered Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. Obsidian’s launch announcement also listed Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox Play Anywhere cross-saves between Xbox consoles and Xbox PC were included in the launch information.

The launch announcement listed historical Game Preview/Early Access prices of $29.99 USD for the Standard Edition, $39.99 USD for the Founder’s Edition, and $10.00 USD for the Founder’s Pack upgrade. These are launch-period prices, not confirmation of current pricing.
How Brookhollow Park has grown since launch
The launch teaser is not a description of the park’s present playable state. In its August 11, 2026 Into the Abyss update, Obsidian added underwater exploration and building. The update describes the pond opening into an underwater environment with vertical routes and new points of interest, and identifies surrounding locations including the Bayou and Mountains.

That update shows the world expanding through later additions, but it still does not establish a definitive full-map size or state what percentage of the complete park was playable at the July 2025 launch. A map image or community estimate may suggest where barriers and unexplored regions lie, but it is not an official measurement.
