What is Grounded 2?
Grounded 2 is a survival adventure set in Brookhollow Park, where people have been shrunk to ant size. Everyday park features become a wilderness to explore: players gather resources, craft equipment, build shelter, and fight creatures. Insect Buggies add a way to travel and engage with the park. You can play alone or cooperatively.
The premise continues the series’ small-scale survival approach, but the park is the setting for an evolving game rather than a finished, fixed experience.
Can you play Grounded 2 now, and on which platforms?
As of Xbox Wire’s August 11, 2026 update, the game was available in Game Preview for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC, in Early Access on Steam and PlayStation 5, and through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. Xbox Wire says one Xbox Play Anywhere purchase supports Xbox console and Xbox PC, including cross-saves, at no additional cost. Availability and subscription inclusion can vary or change, so check the live storefront for your region before buying or subscribing.

Is Grounded 2 finished? Is there a release date?
No. The PlayStation Store listing describes the game as actively in development toward a full 1.0 release and says progress may be impacted during the transition. It does not state a 1.0 release date. The listing says more transition details will be shared in advance, but it does not specify when.

That makes the distinction between playing now and waiting for a finished release important: the available versions are Early Access or Game Preview builds, and features, balance, and progression can change as development continues.

Obsidian’s update added King Dozer, a large horned-lizard boss; a buggy progression system; the Black Soldier Ant Buggy; the Sinkhole Anthill and other park content; and Playgrounds Mode, where players can create arenas, challenges, and puzzles. The update page described the game as still in Early Access.
Into the Abyss — August 11, 2026
Xbox Wire’s coverage describes new pond exploration above and below the water, new encounters including the Toe Biter and mechanical Catch ’N Kill robots, and the amphibious Toe-biter Buggy.

Patch 0.5.0.5 — September 2, 2026
Obsidian’s patch notes document balance changes made after player feedback: mosquito and tiger mosquito spawns were reduced, some creatures’ vision and follow ranges were reduced, and the O.G.R.R. Toe Biter Leviathan encounter was adjusted. The patch also addressed crashes on all platforms, including Out of Memory crashes on PS5. These notes describe that specific patch; later updates may have changed the game again.

Obsidian’s July 29, 2025 announcement listed launch-period prices of $29.99 USD for the Standard Edition, $39.99 USD for the Founder’s Edition, and $10.00 USD for the Founder’s Pack upgrade during the Game Preview/Early Access period. Those are historical announcement prices, not verified current prices. The same announcement described the Founder’s Edition artbook and soundtrack as digital.
