When did Operation: Frontlines launch?
Halo Support’s February 4, 2025 patch notes confirm that Operation: Frontlines launched with the Spring Update that day. Halo Infinite’s January 31, 2025 announcement had previewed the release and said Frontlines would begin the update on February 4. The title’s “set to launch next week” wording reflects that pre-launch announcement, not a current release date.
How did the Frontlines Operation Pass work?
Frontlines began a three-operation pass cycle: the first operation in each set had 50 tiers, followed by two operations with 20 tiers each. Frontlines’ free track contained 20 tiers and was open to all players during its five-week window. Match XP from multiplayer matchmaking or Custom Games advanced the track.

These were the offers documented for the Frontlines operation window; the official sources do not confirm a current purchase route for this pass. Buying Premium during that window made it permanently selectable afterward. Premium was optional: the free track was available to all players.

What content did the update add?
Fuel Rod SPNKr
The update added the Fuel Rod SPNKr, a Banished-modified power weapon available in matchmaking, Custom Games, Forge, and Academy. Halo’s patch notes describe it as semi-automatic, with a six-shot magazine. Its projectiles arc over longer distances, and only a direct shot defeats an enemy Spartan in one hit.
Assault returns
Assault returned in Neutral Bomb and One Bomb variants. In both, teams try to carry and plant a bomb at the opposing base. The update included 4v4 and 8v8 playlist formats.

Maps, ranked play, Forge, and fixes
Origin, a Forge map based on Halo 5: Guardians’ Coliseum, joined Custom Games and playlists. The update also added a Ranked Squad Battle rotational playlist, changed ranked map jumps and item placement, and included Forge improvements, balance changes, stability work, and other fixes.
What happened to rewards after the operation?
Halo’s announcement said free customization rewards missed during their active month would be made available for Spartan Points through The Exchange in a later major update. It also said premium armor would return to the Shop during the next seasonal update; the patch notes likewise described future Shop and Exchange re-releases. Those were announced plans, not confirmation of today’s inventory or the availability of any particular Frontlines item.
What followed Frontlines?
In its January 31 announcement, Halo Infinite listed the planned starts for the next two operations: Blue Team on March 11, 2025, and Forerunner on April 8, 2025. Those were the announced schedule dates; the cited announcement alone does not establish whether the schedule later changed.
