To complete “Searching for the Keystone of Ecstasy” in Hell Is Us, follow the Two-Headed Snake lead from Tania, find the Gospel of Teaar, investigate Serpent’s Ascension in Vyssa Hills, then reach the Temple of the Fallen in Plains of Mist. The temple entrance dial solution is Sword, Diamond, Sun, Eye, in that order from top to bottom; the temple also contains separate pressure-plate puzzles, so the entrance code is not the end of the investigation.
Spoiler note: The route comes first. Direct puzzle solutions appear in clearly marked spoilers below. The Review Geek warns that choosing a wrong pressure plate can make you fall, so inspect the clues before trying a sequence.

1. Start with Tania and the Two-Headed Snake
Begin by speaking with Tania in the APC. The Two-Headed Snake information starts the investigation and points you toward the Gospel of Teaar. Game8’s walkthrough, last updated September 17, 2025, groups the objectives as learning about the symbol, obtaining the Gospel, investigating Serpent’s Ascension in Vyssa Hills, and investigating the Temple of the Fallen in Plains of Mist: Game8’s investigation walkthrough.
2. Find the Gospel of Teaar
Travel to Pathem Abbey in Acasa Marshes, then follow the lead to the Lethe National Library sequence to obtain the Gospel of Teaar. This stage advances the investigation toward Serpent’s Ascension; it is a separate objective, not a location inside the Plains of Mist temple.

3. Investigate Serpent’s Ascension in Vyssa Hills
Game8 directs players to Serpent’s Maw, east on the map near where Tania was first met. Follow the serpent across the hills toward the serpent-marked ruin. The access route leads through the mines, where painted mice serve as navigation clues. These are walkthrough directions rather than an official map specification, so use the markings in the environment to orient yourself if your route differs.
4. Reach the Temple of the Fallen in Plains of Mist
At Plains of Mist, search the surrounding ruins before approaching the large temple entrance. The wall symbols and the shapes of their associated plates are clues for the entrance puzzle. Take time to observe them in context rather than treating the dial as an unexplained code; the Twin-Headed Serpent item reveals the entrance dial puzzle.

Set the symbols from top to bottom in this order:
- Sword
- Diamond
- Sun
- Eye
This sequence is reported by Game8. The symbols can be found in the surrounding ruins before you enter the large temple.
5. Solve the temple’s pressure-plate puzzles
The Temple of the Fallen has more than one pressure-plate puzzle. The Review Geek’s walkthrough describes a clue-based selection puzzle drawing on tablets about Tearr, followed later by a sacrament puzzle that asks you to recall four symbols in sequence. Push Square also confirms there are two pressure-plate puzzles in the temple. Read the inscriptions and scan the relevant symbols before stepping onto a plate: the clue interpretations below are guide summaries, not verbatim quotations from the game.

Clue-based plate choice
The first puzzle uses tablet clues associated with the Star, Tree, and Moon symbols to determine which plate to choose. Compare the clues on the tablets with the symbols presented in the room rather than guessing. A wrong plate may cause a fall, according to The Review Geek’s walkthrough.
