Hard mode opens repeatable activities, but the best next step depends on what you need and what the current in-game reward panels show.
How do you unlock endgame in The First Descendant?
- Finish the Normal main quest in every zone. Nexon Support says this unlocks Hard difficulty. Select Hard on the Map to access Hard zone quests, Infiltration Operations, and Void Intercept Battles. See Nexon Support for the Hard-mode unlock guidance.
- Complete “How to Hide the Truth.” This quest is the stated gate for Invasions, a post-story activity available through two Hard Difficulty Infiltration Operations each day. The game shows the current locations and reward details.
- Check your equipment and activity requirements. Some high-difficulty content uses Arche Activity—a measure of equipment growth—as an entry requirement. Its value appears in details for your Descendant, weapons, Reactor, External Components, and Fellow.
- Choose a target and check the live reward preview. Decide whether you need a particular weapon, Descendant component, module, or currency, then compare the available activities and their current gates and rewards.
These steps are a route into repeatable content, not a promise that every activity becomes available immediately after the story. Quest progress, Mastery Rank, difficulty, and equipment requirements can all matter.

What should you do after finishing the story?
Use Invasions for their current daily rewards
After completing How to Hide the Truth, check which two Hard Infiltration Operations currently host Invasions. You can enter the same Invasion twice per day. A clear within the time limit grants additional rewards; the in-game tooltip lists the rewards for each section. Because locations and reward details can change, use the current in-game display rather than an old farming route.
Build toward harder activities before attempting them
Arche Activity is a gear-growth indicator and a selective entry check, not a universal score required for all endgame content. Nexon’s Update 1.3.28 described it as an entry requirement for certain activities and noted that Public and Private Operation rules can differ. Inspect the activity’s current entry conditions before investing in a build specifically to meet a threshold.

Treat Onslaught and Extreme Void Intercept as later goals
Onslaught has requirements beyond story completion. Update 1.3.28 specified Mastery Rank 18 and Public Operation Arche Activity thresholds of 78,780 for Stage 1 and 81,580 for Stages 2 and 3; Private Operations could start below those thresholds. The same update described weekly bonuses available up to four times and stronger guaranteed module option tiers at higher stages. Those are figures from that update, not confirmed current limits or requirements—check the activity in game.
Update 1.4.0 announced the official launch of Void Intercept Battle: Extreme. Its current boss access, mechanics, rotation, and rewards are subject to change, so use the in-game terminal for the active details instead of relying on an older guide.

How should you choose what to farm first?
There is no universal best endgame farm. Compare the options against your goal and current unlocks before repeating a mode.
- Target reward: Find the named weapon, Descendant component, module, or currency in the current reward preview.
- Access: Check whether the activity requires a quest, Mastery Rank, Hard difficulty, or a minimum Arche Activity.
- Reward certainty and cadence: Note whether the item is guaranteed or chance-based, and whether attempts or bonuses have daily or weekly limits. Check whether a timed clear changes the reward.
- Build fit: For a boss, review its current attributes and mechanics, then consider whether your build can meet the encounter’s damage and survival demands.
- Run efficiency: Prefer an activity that advances more than one of your goals only when its current reward panel confirms that it does.
This is a practical way to compare options, not a developer-prescribed optimal route. Reward tables and drop rates are updated: Nexon’s official Steam announcement index lists Update 1.4.3, dated September 17, 2026, as including revisions to Hard 400% Infiltration Operation item drops. The listing does not establish the details of those revisions, so verify current drops in game and consult the latest official patch notes.

Which endgame requirements are safe to rely on?
The most dependable starting point is the official quest gate for Hard mode and the stated quest gate for Invasions. More specific figures from patch notes should be treated as dated snapshots. For example, Update 1.3.28’s Onslaught thresholds and weekly bonus count may no longer match the current activity. Before farming, confirm the live entry conditions, schedule, and reward table in the game’s terminal or reward preview.
