Grounded 2 is an Early Access game, but the current status and timing of individual roadmap plans—including additional mounts and Steam Deck verification—cannot be confirmed from the official roadmap text available here. Steam Deck verification and related support appeared in reporting about the original roadmap, but that historical plan is not confirmation that the work has shipped. Treat the roadmap as a changing plan, not a list of guaranteed release dates.
What is confirmed about the Grounded 2 roadmap?
Obsidian Entertainment released Grounded 2 in Game Preview / Early Access on July 29, 2025, and said a public roadmap would be available at launch. The official roadmap page is grounded2.obsidian.net/roadmap, but its accessible text does not expose the roadmap entries. That means specific future features, mount types, and delivery windows cannot be verified from that page text.
Obsidian frames the game as community-shaped Early Access. Its December 2, 2025 update announcement distinguishes smaller Feature Updates from Content Updates; Feature Updates may focus on technology, performance, or gameplay mechanics and may be opened to Public Test Beta for feedback. Those descriptions explain how updates can be delivered, but they do not confirm any particular 2026 roadmap item. See Obsidian’s December Feature Update announcement.
What do we know about mounts?
Buggies are already part of the game’s launch-era design as mounts, allies, and practical partners. In its June 8, 2025 announcement, Obsidian described them as “your build partners, your battle allies, and your emergency getaway rides.” It gave Red Ants as an example of resource haulers and Orb Weavers as combat helpers that can stun enemies. Those examples establish the intended roles of buggies; they do not verify which additional mounts are currently planned or when any would arrive.

PC Gamer’s report from the original roadmap period mentioned aquatic mounts and earwigs. That is useful historical context, not confirmation of their present roadmap status or a release window. The official roadmap page’s accessible text does not provide enough detail to establish whether those items remain planned or have shipped.
Is Grounded 2 verified for Steam Deck?
Do not assume it is. PC Gamer reported that Steam Deck verification and Steam Deck-specific cross-play appeared as planned roadmap items at the time. The sources checked here do not establish whether verification has since been granted or whether the related support has been delivered. Obsidian’s support FAQ lists Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, but does not mention Steam Deck; the FAQ was last updated July 29, 2025, so it may not reflect later changes.

For a current compatibility decision, check the game’s Steam store listing for its present Steam Deck compatibility status and consult the official roadmap or a newer Obsidian announcement for development updates. A historical roadmap goal is not the same as a current compatibility rating.
Where can you play, and what about cross-play?
In its FAQ last updated July 29, 2025, Obsidian lists Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Windows PC through the Xbox app and Steam. The FAQ says Xbox and PC players can cross-play and carry progress between PC and Xbox. Steam players must link a Microsoft account to use cross-platform features. Because the FAQ is dated, check a newer official listing if you need the exhaustive current platform lineup or access options.

- Separate existing features from future plans: buggies and their described hauling and combat roles are launch-era features; additional mounts mentioned in historical reporting are not confirmed here as current or delivered.
- Look for delivery confirmation: an item appearing in a roadmap or earlier report does not establish that it has shipped. Check for a dated update or current in-game availability.
- Recheck compatibility directly: Steam Deck verification can change independently of roadmap reporting. Use the current Steam listing rather than treating an earlier plan as a rating.
- Account for roadmap changes: Obsidian describes the game as community-shaped Early Access, and its update approach includes feedback-oriented testing. Plans and timing may therefore change.
