Focus Entertainment’s notes document changes to several weapon variants in Update 9.0 and a later rebalance affecting bolter weapons broadly in Patch 13.0, but they do not provide a complete current Heavy Bolter stat sheet or a verified best build. The figures below are historical patch-note values, not a guarantee of what is live in October 2026.
What the Heavy Bolter is
The Heavy Bolter is a named weapon in Space Marine 2. Focus Entertainment’s July 2024 promotional video presented it as a weapon for cutting through Tyranid swarms and described it as having an “enormous clip.” That is promotional framing, not a current ammunition specification or a tested performance claim. What Update 9.0 changed
Focus Entertainment’s Update 9.0 notes record adjustments to clip size for three Beta variants and to heating and venting influences for three other variants. The values below describe the changes published in those notes; they should not be read as confirmed live values in October 2026. Read Focus Entertainment’s Update 9.0 notes.

How Patch 13.0 changed the bolter context
Patch 13.0 described a broad PvE firearms rebalance, not a Heavy Bolter-only change. Focus Entertainment’s notes say non-headshot damage increased by about 30% for bolter weapons. They also removed the global headshot modifier from Majoris and Extremis enemies, making a weapon’s headshot bonus depend on its own stats instead. The Game Director, Dmitry Grigorenko, said the intended broad result was that “headshot TTK (Time To Kill) of all enemies should be the same, while non headshot TTK will be lower by 30%.” That statement describes the rework’s intended overall effect; it is not a Heavy Bolter-specific test or current damage figure. Because those changes affected bolters and enemy damage calculations, older weapon comparisons may not describe the post-rework balance. The patch notes cited here do not establish the Heavy Bolter’s current damage, DPS, time-to-kill, or best variant.
What later updates establish—and what they do not
Warhammer Community reported that Patch 14, the Confrontation Update, launched on 28 July 2026. Its coverage includes Heavy-class cosmetic content, including a Salamanders Champion ensemble, but does not establish a Heavy Bolter balance change. Read Warhammer Community’s Patch 14 coverage.

A Warhammer Community article dated 1 October 2026 discusses anniversary content and a Year 3 roadmap, alongside other updates. It does not state that the Heavy Bolter changed. Can you use these notes to pick a current build?
Not reliably. The available official notes document particular historical variant changes and a bolter-wide damage rework, but they do not supply a complete current stat table or a verified comparison of Heavy Bolter builds. They also do not establish a current best perk setup, class/loadout access, or a PvE-versus-PvP ranking.

For a version-specific comparison, check the current in-game descriptions and evaluate variants using the same game version and mode. Relevant factors include clip size, heat buildup and venting, damage, accuracy and recoil, and range behavior. The historical Update 9.0 figures can help identify what changed, but do not substitute for current in-game values.
