The company has not confirmed the cancellation in the sources available here. Warner Bros. Discovery has separately acknowledged restructuring activity involving Warner Bros. Games, but its filing does not say that restructuring caused this specific decision.
Was the Hogwarts Legacy DLC cancelled?
That is what Bloomberg reported in March 2025, as recounted by Windows Central on March 27, 2025 and Gadgets 360 on March 28, 2025. Both accounts described the expansion as unannounced by Warner Bros.; the cancellation is therefore attributed reporting, not a public company announcement.
The reported project was a story expansion with new quests and material cut from the original game. Gadgets 360 described it as a companion storyline. Its precise scope was not fully documented, so those descriptions should not be read as a confirmed feature list.
Why was the expansion reportedly cancelled?
Windows Central’s account of Bloomberg’s reporting said Warner Bros. was concerned that the amount of content would not justify the planned price. That is the reported rationale, not an explanation Warner Bros. has publicly confirmed.

The same account said Avalanche Software and Rocksteady Studios were co-developing the add-on and that it had been planned for later in 2025. Those details, like the pricing concern, come from the reporting rather than an official project announcement.
Was the Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition cancelled too?
The March 2025 reports said a Definitive Edition tied to the expansion was also cancelled. It was described as a package that would bundle the released game content with the planned add-on. Since the edition was not officially announced, there is no confirmed feature list, release date, or retail offer to compare against the existing game.

Did Warner Bros. restructuring cause the cancellation?
Restructuring is relevant context, but the available official filing does not establish it as the cause of this particular cancellation. Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2025 Form 10-K says that during 2024 it initiated an organizational and personnel restructuring plan and a separate restructuring initiative associated with Warner Bros. Games. It does not identify the Hogwarts Legacy expansion or link that initiative to its reported cancellation.
Can you still buy the Hogwarts Legacy DLC?
No released DLC or Definitive Edition is documented in these reports; they concern an unreleased project described as cancelled. The reports do not identify a purchasable add-on listing. The base game is a separate released product, and any listing for it should be checked for the correct platform and edition.

Is Hogwarts Legacy 2 still happening?
Warner Bros. Discovery’s August 6, 2026 shareholder letter lists “the second installment of Hogwarts Legacy” in the company’s Games pipeline. The cited passage does not give a release date or further detail. It also does not say that the sequel incorporates material from the cancelled expansion.
