You play as Polly, who returns home searching for her missing mother. Polly discovers she can see into the future and connect with Reverie, a realm inhabited by divine beings known as Aspirations. As Harmony, she must help restore balance between Reverie and the human world. The six Aspirations—Glory, Bliss, Power, Chaos, Bond, and Truth—shape the story’s supernatural and personal conflicts.
How do choices work?
The game organizes decisions through the Augural, a visual structure that lets you move between scenes, look at possible futures, and open paths. As DON’T NOD describes it, “Use the Augural to go from scene to scene, see into the future, and open new paths.” Choices and relationships with the Aspirations earn crystals, which unlock important story nodes and can change how events unfold.

This system makes the shape of the story legible: you can inspect what a decision may lead to instead of choosing with no preview. That clarity is also the main point of disagreement in reviews. The Guardian’s Malindy Hetfeld argues that seeing the branches can expose alternatives you have already locked out and weaken suspense. She also finds that many decisions feel pedestrian or produce similar outcomes. So choices do affect routes and story access, but the visible structure does not guarantee dramatically different consequences at every turn.
What do reviews praise—and criticize?
Metacritic’s PC critic page showed a 75 Metascore and “Generally Favorable” reception when accessed on October 8, 2026: 20 positive, 12 mixed, and one negative review out of 33. That is a dated snapshot of PC critic reviews, not a score for every platform or a permanent rating.

- The Augural may appeal if you like weighing routes with a preview of where they lead, rather than making choices in the dark.
- Be cautious if you want every decision to produce a sharply different outcome, prefer fast pacing, or value surprise over planning.
- Think about replaying before buying if uncovering locked branches matters to you; some player reviews describe replay friction and repeated interface movement.
