Yes—Hearthstone has officially announced a new class. Blizzard revealed Monk at BlizzCon 2026 and says Chen Stormstout will join the Tavern in March 2027. The teaser calls Monk “Agile and adaptable,” but Blizzard has not yet announced its cards, mechanics, hero power, or exact release date.
What Blizzard confirmed about Hearthstone’s Monk class
Blizzard Entertainment’s September 12, 2026 BlizzCon recap says it revealed the all-new Monk class. The recap also labels its video the “Monk Class Teaser Trailer,” but the announcement itself goes beyond a hint: Monk is confirmed.

- Class: Monk.
- Named character: Chen Stormstout.
- Planned arrival: March 2027. Blizzard has not provided an exact day.
Blizzard describes Monk as “Agile and adaptable,” saying it “brings a whole new way to play.” That is the extent of the gameplay description in the announcement.
What Blizzard has not revealed
The teaser does not establish Monk’s cards, hero power, keywords, deck strategies, or competitive strength. Any proposed mechanics or builds should be treated as fan speculation unless Blizzard confirms them in a later announcement.

There is likewise no confirmed unlock method or other launch detail in the recap. The March 2027 timing is a planned month, not a precise release date.
Why players were already wondering about an extra class
Blizzard’s April 27, 2026 article about Hearthstone Class Sets said the game had 11 classes but planned 12 Class Sets. That mismatch invited speculation about what the additional set might mean; the article did not identify Monk or confirm that the extra set was for a new class.

- The turn sequence is easy but there are many options to choose from
The Class Sets plan was a separate content rollout: Blizzard described four class sets at a time across three planned waves during the year. Its initial Restoration of Azeroth sets contained seven cards each, or 13 cards when full Epic, Rare, and Common playsets were counted. Those figures apply to those Class Sets—not to Monk, whose cards have not been announced.

When Blizzard introduced Demon Hunter in 2020, it called it the first new class since Hearthstone launched and detailed the Outcast keyword and unlock path. That announcement is historical precedent only; it offers no evidence about Monk’s eventual mechanics or how players will access the class.
