He said he loved that the campaign’s “Angel of Death” difficulty beat him when he played alone, and that he was “Loving the PvP.” His comments were a personal reaction and a hope for the mode’s future—not a review or an assessment of its player numbers today.
Why Cavill liked the campaign’s hardest setting
PC Gamer reported that Cavill wrote: “I couldn’t complete the campaign on Angel of Death by myself (or at least didn’t have patience to complete by myself!) which I love!” The appeal, in his telling, was the challenge: the difficulty pushed him toward playing with others rather than finishing alone.
The campaign supports solo play or co-op with up to two friends, according to Xbox Wire’s overview of the game. That context helps explain the distinction in Cavill’s remark: he was talking about his own experience on Angel of Death, not saying the campaign cannot be played solo.
What Cavill said about PvP
His post also said: “Loving the PvP and am really looking forward to it growing and expanding—It has real potential to be absolutely awesome!” He added a qualification: “Disclaimer: I know nothing about game development so the kind of dreams I have may be rather difficult to implement!” The remarks, as reproduced by PC Gamer, express enthusiasm and hopes for future development; they do not specify which changes he wanted.

In the launch-period overview, Xbox Wire described PvP as 6v6. That team-based format differs from the campaign’s solo-or-small-co-op structure. Cavill’s comments concern his enjoyment and hopes, rather than a technical comparison of the modes.
What the later developer update said about PvP
A later official Focus Entertainment Q&A recap reported the game director describing PvP as the least-played mode at the time, noting that it required 12 players and that more improvements were planned. This is a snapshot from that Q&A, not a current player-count or matchmaking report.

Cavill’s September 2024 praise and the later developer comment answer different questions: one records a player’s reaction, while the other gives the developer’s assessment at the time of the Q&A. Neither establishes how active PvP is now.
