Ubisoft revealed Schism as the sixth faction in Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era on August 29, 2025. Its defining emphasis, in Ubisoft’s words, is “unavoidable damage and ability control.” The reveal is a faction announcement from 2025—not a new announcement in October 2026—and Olden Era has since entered PC Early Access.

Schism is one of the six factions listed in developer Unfrozen’s official Olden Era press kit, alongside Temple, Necropolis, Sylvan, Dungeon, and Hive. The game’s campaign is set on Jadame.

Ubisoft’s August 29, 2025 reveal description gives Schism a concise mechanical identity: “With its focus on unavoidable damage and ability control, Schism adds a unique twist to the battlefield.” That is the clearest official summary of the faction’s playstyle in the reveal.

Ubisoft identifies unavoidable damage as one of Schism’s central themes. The description does not specify which units or abilities deliver it, how much damage they deal, or the conditions under which it applies.

Ability control
The second stated focus is ability control. The reveal description does not explain which abilities Schism can affect or give unit-by-unit examples, so it supports describing this as a faction emphasis—not making claims about particular counters, tactics, or strength relative to other factions.

Ubisoft published the Schism reveal on August 29, 2025. A later Ubisoft recap, dated October 9, 2025, said the free demo included four playable factions, including Schism, along with a tutorial and three game modes. Those details describe that demo at that time, not the number of factions in the full game now.

Ubisoft’s May 28, 2026 Early Access roadmap says the game launched in Early Access for PC on April 30, 2026, through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The official press kit lists three multiplayer modes: Classic, One-Hero, and Arena.
