When did Viper Commandos launch?
Arrowhead Game Studios announced Viper Commandos on June 6, 2024, and set its release for June 13. The PlayStation Blog announcement presented it as a jungle- and swamp-reconnaissance-themed Premium Warbond.

What is included in the Viper Commandos Warbond?
Close-range weapons
- AR-23A Liberator Carbine: A shortened Liberator intended for close-range handling. The announcement describes it as handling faster than the standard Liberator, with higher recoil; it does not provide comparative damage figures.
- SG-22 Bushwhacker: A triple-barrel sawed-off shotgun used as a secondary weapon. It has two firing modes, including an option to fire all three barrels together.
Armor and passive
The Warbond includes the PH-9 Predator and PH-202 Twigsnapper armor sets. Both use the Peak Physique passive, which improves melee damage and weapon handling. The announcement does not establish that one set provides a stronger version of the passive than the other.
Utility items
- Throwing knife: A close-range utility item intended for emergencies. The launch post does not give comparative damage or effectiveness data.
- Experimental Infusion: A booster that temporarily increases movement speed and reduces damage taken after a Helldiver uses a stim, according to the announcement.
Cosmetics
Its themed cosmetics include woodland and tiger-stripe camouflage patterns for hellpods, Exosuits and Pelican-1, as well as capes, player cards and emotes.

How do you unlock Viper Commandos?
The launch announcement says access requires the Helldivers 2 base game, Super Credits and game progression. It does not state the Warbond’s current Super Credit price or provide a verified present-day purchase flow.
Availability information published later offers useful context, but not a price check: in a May 13, 2025 PlayStation Blog article, the studio said older items would be available anytime rather than requiring players to wait for a rotation. That general statement does not confirm Viper Commandos’ current price or exact in-game purchase steps.

What is the Warbond’s intended play style?
The equipment points toward closer engagements: the Liberator Carbine trades the standard Liberator’s handling profile for faster handling and higher recoil, while the Bushwhacker offers a secondary shotgun with a three-barrel firing option. Peak Physique also improves melee damage and weapon handling. Those descriptions are not a current balance ranking, and the announcement does not establish that these items outperform alternatives.
At announcement, Arrowhead said it was changing its approach to Warbonds by slowing releases and focusing on more cohesive themes and higher-quality items. That was the studio’s stated rationale in June 2024, not a guarantee of its release cadence today.
