No specific first-game armor set has been confirmed as returning to Helldivers 2. Arrowhead has said the original game is a source of content for the sequel, but its cited statement discusses the Hive Lord—not armor. The returning set, its release timing and how players might unlock it remain unverified.
What Arrowhead has actually said about returning content
On September 3, 2026, Arrowhead design director Niklas Malmborg wrote that the first Helldivers is a source of canon content for the sequel. He said: “We won’t necessarily bring back everything from the first game, but we want to bring back a lot and the Hive Lord was near the top of the list.”

That is a broad statement about the studio’s approach, with the Hive Lord as its example. It does not name an armor set or confirm that any particular first-game armor is on the way.
Which armor is reportedly returning?
The available official sources do not identify the alleged returning armor. They also do not establish a release date or an unlock method. Without a named set or an official announcement, it would be speculation to identify one of the game’s existing armor sets as the rumored return.

Arrowhead’s FAQ, updated September 24, 2026, lists the preorder sets TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand, TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy and TR-62 Knight. It does not identify them as first-game armor returning to the sequel.
Current armor examples are separate from the rumor
The September 2026 Ironclad Democracy Warbond provides current armor examples, but its official coverage does not identify these sets as returning first-game armor. PlayStation Blog’s September 15 announcement names the BFM-16 Tanker as light armor and the BFM-220 Ironclad as heavy armor.

The announcement describes their Blunt-Force Mitigation passive as reducing damage from impacts and collisions by 30% while also providing a higher armor rating. That figure applies to the passive described for these Warbond armors, not to the unverified first-game armor report.
Why players are discussing it
Community discussion reflects interest in seeing more original-game armor return, alongside disagreement over which content has already come back. That is evidence of player interest, not confirmation from Arrowhead. The discussion does not identify an officially confirmed armor return.

What to watch for in a confirmation
A useful confirmation would name the set and explain when and how it becomes available. Until a source does that, the studio’s general comments about bringing back original-game content should not be treated as an armor announcement.
