What the August 12 trailer hinted at
GameSpot reported that the trailer’s closing moments evoked Halo 3: ODST: a rainy urban setting reminiscent of New Mombasa, a drop pod associated with Helljumpers, and musical notes from the ODST soundtrack. The combination made the crossover a strong possibility, but the trailer did not establish that any specific items or final content would be included. The armor sets are A-9 Helljumper and A-35 Recon. Both are paired with the Feet First passive, which Xbox Wire described as reducing movement noise, preventing leg injuries and increasing point-of-interest discovery range by 30%. That 30% figure refers specifically to discovery range in the announcement, not a general gameplay boost.
The announcement also included two capes and other themed content. The Halo official site later summarized the Warbond as featuring two ODST armor sets, UNSC-themed capes, vehicle patterns and weapons inspired by Halo 3: ODST. Price and unlock terms announced in 2025
Xbox Wire listed the Legendary Warbond unlock price as 1,500 Super Credits, which it said could be found in-game or purchased separately. The announcement also said Warbonds do not expire, so players would not have to unlock this one before a limited-time deadline. It specifically stated that the Premium Warbond Token launched at the same time could not be used to unlock the Legendary Warbond.
Arrowhead’s PlayStation Blog announcement described unlocking as requiring the base game, a paid purchase of Super Credits and game progression. These are the publishers’ launch-announcement terms from 2025; regional store requirements and current pricing may differ.

Why the studios chose ODST
In the Official Xbox Podcast, Halo Studios’ Corrinne Robinson described the collaboration as drawing on Halo’s 2007–2009 era. She said it brought two armors, two capes, three primary weapons, a secondary weapon and a passive into Helldivers 2. Robinson also clarified that Halo characters were not entering Helldivers’ universe; the items represented recognizable armor for Halo fans.
Arrowhead’s Mikael Eriksson said the studio wanted collaborations to feel appropriate for Helldivers and called ODST “the perfect fit.” The developers framed the crossover as equipment and visual inspiration, rather than a story crossover in which ODST characters join the Helldivers. What to take away from the teaser
The trailer was an effective hint, but it did not reveal the finished Warbond or confirm its contents. The official announcement supplied those details on August 19, and the release followed on August 26, 2025. The resulting collaboration brought ODST-inspired gear to Helldivers 2 players across platforms, rather than placing Halo characters directly into the game’s universe.
